Apps that are safe to remove once rooted

I downloaded Super Manager, and the enable root function option on the settings menu is checked. Now, I try to access the files through the APK manager. However, when I look at the Blockbuster app, for example, it has run, info , bAPK, Basic, Activity, and Permission. I cant seem to find a way to get to the point where I can change the file from .apk to .apk.old...

Sorry to be so needy, but I need more guidance. Thanks so much for your help though, this website rocks!

I suggest you use the file manager not the apk manager component of Super Manager. The apk manager will not let you change the name of th files. You need to access the files directly..

Once you identify the file long press on the file name and you will get a dropdown/popup menu and select 'rename'..

Navigate to the end of the file and add on the .old extension and then save the file.. that should do it.

If you continue to have problems keep checking back one of us can help.

Rooted my phone and got rather liberal with removing the verizon garbage apps. Of course I see this thread a few days later. However I doubt it matters because I did this after the OTA froyo update and I'm pretty sure that this is the latest android version that the Fascinate will ever see since its clear that verizon is phasing it out for the new Droid phone.

Not a big deal as it looks like you can find the .apk files and just stick them back on, but just saying no need to be really worred about it.

what if i moved every single app to my sd card?

Every app would take a bit longer to load. The fascinate has plenty of internal storage to hold your apps. You would need to download about 600 apps to use up all the memory on your phone. There's really no need to move ANY apps to the sd card.

Has anyone checked to see if it is safe to remove the Booksphone.apk? This is a new file added with the most recent ED05 update i believe.

I would test but I am at work and am not sure how to fix the problem if it causes one.

just add .old to the end of the file name (so it should say Booksphone.apk.old)

if it causes any problems, which I don't think it will, just delete the .old you added
