April update

......these install times for such a small package!

The vast majority of phone users don't even know about downloading security updates and don't want to be interrupted, so the decision was made to do updates entirely in the background with a minimum of power used so that users are unaware that updates even happen and they can use their phone as normal. It would be nice to have a choice, but we don't have that.

Started the update on my Verizon P6P last night and finished the reboot process this morning. Wasn't too happy to see an app installed that I never gave permission to or have a desire to be installed. Notifications for Facebook? WTF, Google!? I promptly uninstalled it.

Oh. Had no idea that's why. Makes sense I guess. Would prefer the option to get it done and over with. No biggie though!

Perhaps Verizon gets paid by Facebook for the installation. I have a Facebook account because of family and friends so I wouldn't be aware where the installation came from.

I don't think that had anything to do with the update. I have a Verizon P6P and didn't get that app.

Don't know but I didn't install that app on this phone and it showed up after the update. I can only report what I've observed.

FWIW, I have installed that app on a phone many years and phones ago but it's been close to 10 years since.

Just got the "Show iPhone reactions as emoji" update in advanced Messages settings.

Anybody notice any changes with the camera? Pictures of my 2-year-old son are blurry where they didn't used to be. Very little motion, it's not like he's running or anything.

Here we go again!

Has Google made an unequivocal, yes or no statement whether the Dirty Pipe vulnerability for the Pixel 6 series is or is not fixed with the April 2022 update?

The camera is the same. Your two-year-old is just getting faster! :)

Is it possible you were trying to focus too close?

I've had a Verizon smartphone since 2010 and have never had anything from Facebook auto-install like that.

No. Nothing changed other than the update. I've taken a couple of better pictures since then but his hair just isn't as detailed as before. Same with my sleeping cats. They're not bad, but not the level of detail as before the update.

Peanut butter smudge? My pictures haven't changed.

As rvbfan suggested, check your lens for smudges or debris. Even an oily fingerprint on the lens can mess up photos. My photos are sharp and haven't changed.

Yeah, I've done that. Thanks anyway. Unsubscribing from thread.
