Hi,
Does anyone know if the Tab S2 9.7 supports this codec ? While it features on the list of supported devices on aptX® Wireless Bluetooth Audio Products & Technology, there' s no mention of it in the tablets specs. The Samsung support in my country ( Czech Republic) tells me the aptX isn't supported. I'm totally confused.
Thanks for replying
Ivan

The Note 4, 5 and S6, S7 phones do support this codec....I would think that the tab S2 does as well since it's based off the Note 4s CPU etc......

It's still a mystery to me though. It's almost impossible to find clear info about whether the tablet supports the codec or not. Except for the aptX® Wireless Bluetooth Audio Products & Technology list of supported devices. But then again , why would
Samsung keep this info secret instead of showing it off? This just doesn't make any sense.
Cheers
any further info much appreciated
Ivan

I would go with what aptx.com says. The specs that Samsung shows are the BT profiles. One of which is A2DP. A2DP is what aptX uses.

"The aptX audio codec is available for consumer and automotive wireless audio applications, notably the real-time streaming of high quality stereo audio over the Bluetooth A2DP connection/pairing between a "source" device (such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop) and a "sink" accessory (namely a Bluetooth stereo speaker, headset or headphones). aptX technology must be incorporated in both transmitter and receiver to derive the sonic benefits of aptX audio coding over the default sub-band coding (SBC) mandated by the Bluetooth standard. Consumer electronics products bearing the CSR aptX logo are certified for interoperability with other Bluetooth audio products belonging to the aptX ecosystem."

I hope this helps.

Hi and thanks for your positive comments. I guess you're right in your reasoning.
Cheers,

So it seems the S2 DOES support AptX? Brilliant! I happen to have a Monster Freedom BT headset that apparently supports AptX and I also happen to have an S2.. Jumping around to some tunes right now and it does sound good... I suspect yes it is working...

How can one tell definitively though? Is there an app that can pull up Bluetooth connection info or something?

On another note.... It seems Google do NOT support AptX - even on the Pixel???? This is a deal breaker!!!! I never thought I'd go back to Samsung, but on this point I will!!! How lame of Google!!

It seems Samsung support this all round, yet Google *don't* even on the outrageously priced Pixel... How bizarre!

Now that I've discovered AptX works on two devices I never thought to pair (I had been using my Nexus phone) and hear the difference, I'm never going back... I had no idea I could have been using this all along!!!
