nook newb here - and newb to Android as well. reasonably tech savvy.

I've searched but not found a specific answer. Is it possible to make the NookColor support Arabic? I don't want the interface to be Arabic, but at a minimum I want to be able to read Arabic without the screen turning all the characters into square boxes.

The next level would be to be able to type in both web and word processing apps in Arabic.

I have seen some declarations of support for Arabic in Gingerbread and Honeycomb, but not necessarily Froyo (NC 1.2)

When I root, will I need to SD one of the other Android versions to get Arabic? Will even doing that allow me to get Arabic?

Many thanks for any and all pointers!

I have Verizon Droid 2. I was able to root the device.

I want to enable Arabic. I can type Arabic Text, but the charcters are disconnected. I cannot read Arabic becuase the characters are not shaped (not connected).

Please help.

Tarek.
