Are media smoking crack?

Yeah, that's been my take, too, for years now, and the lopsided look of the Pixel 4 renders/images made me think about that missing bottom speaker. And the fact that I damned near never use it. I can't remember the last time that I watched a video on my 2XL or played music on it like it was an oldschool radio. I'm thinking now that I really only want it there for symmetry and some sense of handset nostalgia. If it's there, cool, but as long as whatever bottom-firing speaker they opt for is loud enough and not a tinny, buzzy mess, I can be okay with that, too.
I'm good with 2 speakers even if they aren't front firing. I don't use it like a portable radio very often.

It's all opinion stated as fact . To me saying the pixel 3 having a top and bottom bezel is a bad design is just someone's opinion . My opinion is not having dual front firing speakers is a bad design . A phone in my opinion is a tool first and a fashion statement second .

And I own the iPhone xs and the Samsung s10 , both are good phones but both have some things that could be better . And there not really any better than the pixel 3 from a design standpoint , IMHO .

Sure it's opinion. The media/fans are expressing their opinion about the size of the Pixels bezels. You opinion is that its fine, other people's opinion is that it looks ugly and what 2 year old phones had.

The Pixel 4 won't have dual front facing speakers, so I guess by your definition, the Pixel 4 is badly designed. And a phone can be both - a tool and something that looks nice. It's not mutually exclusive, yet Google's 'design' team seem to be the ones smoking crack with these disappointing and old phone designs year on year.

Being a useful tool is actually an important point was Google seem to have been failing on that point too. My Pixel 3XL has ram management issues (just like everyone's) and also had bad random stutter/lag and a bunch of bugs. These issues were well documented by the media, YouTubers and users on message boards. Never thought I'd see Google made devices with performance issues, but here we are. So if Google's focus is for it to be a useful tool, they might want to spend more time on QA.

So who's going to pre-order the pixel 4 when it arrives?
I'll probably wait a month or 2

I got the P1, P2, and P3 at release, swore I'd wait until Black Friday for the P4. Time will tell how this plan works out.
Got a P3a XL today, all set up ready to go, just waiting for the case, which will be here Monday. These phones are too slippery for me to use comfortably. If I really like the a XL, there may be no P4 coming thru my door.

Hey how you been bill ?
I can see rockn pixel 3xl for another year , but might jump to 4xl if I'm feeling the itch which most likely will happen I love Google latest

I'm out. Not due to lack of interest, just lack of need. That, and dropping nearly the amount of a new phone into my PC for upgrades....I should probably watch where the money is going for a few months.

I hear you , but at least it's something you enjoy, money going be spent one way or another better that's its spent something you really like .

If I do, it'll definitely not be at launch. The Pixel 3 burned me enough to know that. Bugs, glitches, useless features, poor ram management, advertised features that didn't make it to other countries - all sorts of nonsense.

If the camera and battery is an improvement on the Pixel 3 XL and there's no ram or performance issues then it may sway me to pick up the 4, but I'll wait a few months later when the phone goes on sale and there isn't a laundry list of issues with the phone.

I'm on the Galaxy S10 at the moment and it's better than the Pixel 3 XL in every respect other than camera.

If not for the pixel 3 xl camera, I'll be getting the Note 10. Man, I think Google has me from the neck with that camera and free full resolution backup. They got me.

I still have my eyes on it. I am not 100% if I will update this year ,since saving up for some home remodeling plans for the spring.

But this would be the phone I would upgrade to ,if I upgrade .

It would add to my Pixel collection. :)

I swear, @billchat and I are cousins I tell ya. I am in the same boat. Telling myself, I'm going to wait until Black Friday, Nov 29th this year, before I pull the trigger. But we'll see how it goes. I actually don't think that we'll see the same deep discounts we saw last year on the holiday. We'll see if I stick to that ...

Hahaha...
I hope the discount continue, be Shane not to.

@89145 and 7757 - glad to see you are still holding out for patience and mature behavior, as am I. But, can we get back to reality here and face the fact we will follow the Code of the Pixel Phone Person:

Damn the Discounts, Pre-order ahead!

I love the bezels on my Google Pixel 2. I use bezels to hold my phone or spin it around on a flat surface/in my hand. They are very useful. A purely bezel-less phone makes me nervous.

Not having dual front firing speakers is a design flaw in my OPINION for the ways I use my phone. All pixels may have ram management issues but it's not affecting me in the ways I use my phone . Just because Google isn't just copying whatever Samsung does now there designs are 2 years old ? The s9 had a decent size top bezel just last year .....
If you wanna cry about something cry about the curved screens on the galaxy's and the crappy software , witch IMHO is a way bigger deal than a bezel.
For the 6 or 8 gigs of ram my s10 has it still has screen redraws just like my pixel 3 . So what's the difference ?

Do I want the best screen , best speakers , best cameras , best battery , best software , best everything I certainly do , will any phone maker deliver all of that in one phone NO . the pixels for me are the best compromise . Try not to let the bezels bother you so much . Have a nice day.
