Are media smoking crack?

Media wants clicks.. they got you to click by hitting your nerve with it.. they got what they wanted.

I look at articles and videos myself but stick to ones you know and trust.. others are click bait.. hence why I have sites like BGR blocked.

Tech loggers/journalism right now is just trash. Straight up garbage. We need more actual critiques and less reviews. Right now, there's just an infestation of opinions with very little objectivity.

I have yet to buy a device based on a review.

Definitely in the same camp there... The foolishness that comes out of some of these individuals ... a bit .. disappointing. Disappointing that the industry doesn't want to present better to the public.. But oh well, I guess ...

I look at reviewers as entertainment , and see how the device and UI are if I don't have a chance to check out at store.

I'm finding that to be my approach when I engage the part of the industry. Entertainment at the most.

I wish blogger/journalist part of tech, would start to shift more towards your industry and automobiles, or something similar, when it comes to reviews. Objective reports.

Even something as subjective as film or art critiques, not reviews, come from a standardized approach. A true food critique gives high remarks for a palate balanced dish, independent of their personal preferences.

I guess I'm probably dreaming, with the way things are these days... Eyeball grabbing... quick .. "hot take" highly subjective type of "reports" ...

I agree , and there are some out there.

please have an improved mic. Video sound was what had me get rid of the 3.

Phones like the Samsung Note/S 8 and 9 series, Pixel 2 XL and others have demonstrated that having uniform slim bezels is absolutely fine.

Here is Google’s and other phone companies’ dilemma:

*Phone has notch* - “That’s so 2017! It takes up too much of the screen!”

*Phone has punch-hole” - “It’s annoying because it interrupts the screen and takes up notification space”

*Phone has teardrop* - “This design is getting old, especially when we now have all-screen phones”

*Phone has pop-up camera* - “It makes the phone noticeably thicker and the mechanism seems fragile”

*Phone has slider design* - “It makes the phone too thick and it looks prone to getting stuck”

*Phone has slim bezels* - “That design is so old! It makes the phone too big!”

By a large amount this incessant and ungrateful complaining stems from so called ‘reviewers’ who in one article will say the hole-punch is worse than a notch and in the others will praise the notch and hole punch for being better than bezels AND THEN hate on the notch for being too big and wishing they had slim bezels.

Seriously? Can’t these people at least try to pretend to have a consistent opinion, not be hypocrites and attempt to resemble a non-biased tech reviewer?

Apparently not.

So who's going to pre-order the pixel 4 when it arrives?
I'll probably wait a month or 2

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 I ordered as soon as pre-orders were open, only for Google to drop the price by $250 a month later (in Canada). Told myself I wasn't going to do that again, but the rumoured and confirmed specs of the Pixel 4 have me more excited for this one than I was for the others, so we'll see if I can resist lol.

Regarding the thread topic: I agree with the OP. I LIKE the Pixels design with some bezel in it. Even if it means smaller screen real estate. Cramming a 6.1 inch screen into a smaller bezel-less chassis might help with pocket-ability but it doesn't make one handed use any easier. I tried a Galaxy S10 for a while, nice phone but I found it unwieldy to use one handed. The Pixel 3 is one of the best phone's I've ever had for ergonomics. I hope the Pixel 4 is very close to it in size.

I agree , the leaks and specs look really good.
Be hard to resist preorder lol. I'm sure be comfortable as the pixel 3 series is. But definitely might be discounts like what happened with previous pixels .

Thank you. I find myself thinking about the regular 4 this year as opposed to the 4XL. That said although the screen size is awesome if the battery choice for the regular 4 is smaller I would probably get the 4XL. Hopefully I can wait longer this year but I always get caught up in the new "hotness" lol.

This year the Pixel 3 dropped in price by around $100-200 only a few weeks after its launch. For me, pre-ordering isn’t worth it (unless the included free extra item is really good)

People want tiny bezels until they crack their screen or hardware gets removed.

Example: Cry for smaller top bezel...and manufacturer removes ff camera. Then it's an issue about not being able to take a selfie.

OMG I need 99.99% screen to body ratio. Buys phone, drops it from waist height on carpet, and goes on a tear about build quality.

The war on bezels is dumb.
