I don't think of an Apple phablet replacing any of their current offerings. That'd be a bad and stupid move, IMO. It would need to be in addition to their current offerings, which is why I disagree with you.

Well, while I'm not totally opposed to that, I'd still hesitate against it for the reasons that there is ACTUALLY a sweet spot in size that can make most people happy. And when u make changes in design like they did this time with the 5c, u risk losing partners over design complications for cases, docks, etc. but also, I think it will affect apps too.
But in my view, I totally get why 4" is too small. But my argument is that 5 isn't the answer. And if u look at the total consumer market, I think you'll see that there is pretty clear evidence that smaller is still "in!" Not tiny! Just smaller!
As for phablet phones, I consider anything 5in plus a phablet regardless of the bezel. And I never said that they should go away. I simply said that it should be a nitch product and that android OEMs should focus on it's primary unit, and then extend it to it's nitch areas if it chooses. But what I see is that everything is big on the android side. And the rush seems to be who can make it bigger! And to me, that's the wrong approach completely! Then every now and then when they make a mini that doesn't sell well, they say the consumers don't want it, yet, I personally think it doesn't sell well because the OEM is making THESE phones the nitch products and not the phabs. And if u notice, every mini is dubbed, the affordable alternative or the phone for emerging markets!
So clearly, these companies are missing something! And on their own, every company except Samsung is doing badly. There's got to be a reason behind that!
Samsung may be known as the phablet maker and have already established themselves as such. But others are not as successful with their phablet crazes. And in fact, they aren't successful on their own period. It leaves it open for debate as to what consumers really want.
