I recently purchased a pixel 7 and am looking for some more customisation that by the looks of things nova laucher would bring. what are some key features of the pixel launcher i would lose from making the switch?

I've been using Nova for over 5 years now on every Pixel. Love all the customization possible.

I use Nova all the time as well. I guess one of the main things I miss out on is the Material You stuff -- i.e., the UI automatically adjusting the color scheme of the icons. That was never very important to me, because I would much rather be able to use icon packs.

Easiest thing to do is try it yourself and see if you lose anything you can’t live without. Compared to what might be lost to what might be gained from nova is a no brainer. But either way you can always switch back anytime in seconds so nothing to lose. I find on latest beta nova has a tendency to freeze occasionally. It’s a beta so I get it but switching back to OEM is easy so no biggie.

I like pixel "At a Glance" widget and so don't use any launcher. Also swipe up to recent apps is not as fluent when using launchers.

Actually, there is an official At A Glance widget that can be added in Nova (under the Google widget category). I've also found the App Overview interface to work just fine.:D

As a long time Nova Pro user...You will find small glitches that occur compared to the Pixel launcher...but nothing that is a "Deal Breaker" Probably will depend a lot on how much you customize.

I have the infinity Dock with 7 item dock and removed the search bar...Recommend both of those settings.

I use Nova Prime...have been for years.....I also use button navigation so no issues with Nova at all. I tried swipe navigation a few years ago and used it for awhile but got tired of it. Went back to buttons and never looked back.

I still use button navigation as well. Couldn't get used to swipe navigation.

I thought I'd never be able to move away from button navigation, but I love gestures on the Pixel. They work well with Nova. However, gesture navigation never worked as smoothly on my S22+ using Nova.

Yeah, my understanding is that gestures have always worked better with Nova on Pixels than other phones. Not sure if this was by design or by chance.

This is not the same as the one that is integrated in Pixel launcher but works fine for calendar updates.

It may be worth noting that many Nova users, including myself, are a bit wary about the new owner, Branch.
I'm not too worried myself. The Nova dev and Branch have been fairly transparent: https://novalauncher.com/branch. And it's not like Branch is anything like Cheetah Mobile or one of those skeezy companies.🤪 But it's certainly healthy to keep a close eye on what's going on ...

Yeah, it's not like I've stopped using Nova, but the amount of times a big company has bought a small and good app or service only to completely ruin it or kill it are far too numerous to not at least raise an eyebrow in suspicion.

And it's great that they are reassuring us that they can be trusted... except that means pretty much nothing, words are wind..

Another vote for Nova. I've lost track of how many years and how many phones I've had it on. It's the first thing I install on a new phone.
