Are they ever going to release ICS for LTE

Even though ICS for the 4g Xoom is in planning I am gonna replace my Xoom when ever Google releases the "Nexus" tablet that they are supposedly working on.

Then my Xoom will go to the kids....

Similar here. Gonna get the Google tablet, and give this to my mother.

Right or wrong? Not sure who said you were wrong like i said in the previous post you win and i dont mean that sarcasicly you made a good point i agreed with, but like i said these having the option to do more if you choose not to then thats your thing I look forward to these things so I can see what all more they can do outside of their box.

So changing the subject i see from your name you ride or like the 883 sportster?

I had a 1989 883 until last summer, I traded it for a car for my kid. This year I upgraded to a 1997 Softail custom...

So today was the day I started to consider just giving my 4g xoom to my fiance and getting something else. I spent an hour or two online and almost pulled the trigger (still have in cart on Amazon) . Then I saw my mother and sister's Transformers and their ICS when my lady and I went over for dinner. I realized how crappily that update went. It was constant crashing, keyboards kept flashing in and out of the foreground, and utterly unhappy customers. Like a cheesy post-apocolyptic android.

Made me realize what can happen when updates aren't done properly, and that although they may have gotten it first, I may enjoy it first. :) Made me remember why it sometimes takes longer. So I won't be getting a replacement just yet.

However my laptop probably won't be given the same stay of execution...

I'm running ICS on my Xoom and with some over clocking it's smooth. I was surprised how slow and un-smooth the Transformer Prime was when I played with it at Best Buy. Some of that could be accounted for because it is a show model but scrolling between screens was worse then Honeycomb and the Prime has quad cores. Anyway ICS IMOP is a nice update but nothing earth shattering for someone coming from a HC tablet, now for a phone totally different story.

Still now having had the Xoom since day one I can't say that I am happy with Moto or Verizon. The Xoom is nice but only after you mod it. I will not buy anything from Moto or Verizon in the near future they have left a bad taste in my mouth.

Not change the subject from the OT, but I bought my two sons Primes for Christmas. They updated to ICS flawlessly and are running fantastically smooth. I am dumping the Xoom later this year and never buying another first generation tablet from Verizon or anyone else for that matter. I will be looking at the Primes predecessors.

OK, so you will be looking at the tablet that preceded the Prime? Why not buy the next one that comes out after the Prime?

I finally sent my Xoom in to get the 4G upgrade even tho I dont have a data plan for it. I figured it will help the value when I eventually (soon) decide to sell it for something better. I loaded up ICS on it a month ago and it definitely gave it some new life. I hope when they send it back it still has root...

Updated my 4G Xoom to ICS Codename 1.5 the other day and it's a whole new tablet. I was running stock for a while due to work then said F it. Unlocked, rooted, ICSed, Loved it. Not sure why I ever waited...

Don't wait. just put ICS on your Xoom and enjoy life.

After today I am real close to rooting this dang thing. Been real buggy browser just shutting off for no reason. Not real trust worthy. Getting ready to take the plunge. Sure wish they would give us a date. Would hate to root and have the official ICS come next week or so

Do it! The instructions in the root section of this XOOM forum are good. I'd recommend the Eos rom, but just follow the instructions. You can play with other roms later.

IMHO, the 4G XOOM will not get ICS until the second half of this year. Heck, Jelly Bean might be out (or just around the corner) by then.

I'm thinking about doing it. I don't know if I want to wait that long.

finally rooted, installed rom and 3 times stuck on the red bat wings. rebooted again and now i have a circle going roundy round on the bottom left.

I no longer use my Xoom. It is sitting on a shelf plugged into its dock just sitting there waiting for an Ice Cream Sandwich. I can not believe that people have to buy an Apple product to be guaranteed to get timely updates.

Having rooted my Xoom and installed ICS, I can tell you to take that Xoom off the shelf and either use it or hack it. There really isn't that big a difference between HC and ICS to let the thing sit there, and if you're that anxious, just root it already. There certainly is no reason to think you'd be better off with an iPad.

i agree there really isnt much difference. but now rooted and its 10X better now. if you still dont want it send it to me.

I rooted my LTE Xoom and installed the Team EOS ROM and couldn't be happier. It's like having an entirely new device. It runs much smoother.
