Guess I'll have to check them out at Best buy this weekend. Maybe it will tip this to a buy or.not buy instead of sitting on the fence.

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

So I just totaled my Moto X Pure's screen. Since I've been having some issues with it, and there's the shiny new stuff out there. I'm on Verizon.

As someone debating the Moto Z with the shatterproof screen, waiting on the S8 (and rocking my good ole LG G2 while I wait), or getting the G6; I am looking for reasons to pass. I went to the store today and handled all of them. I like the feel of the S8, size isn't an issue, the finger scanner works as I'm left handed.

Why should I skip the S8? Or am I a fool, and I should go rush out and pre-order now?

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

I think I'll wait for note 8. Though s8 looks stunning but the location of fingerprint scanner is very awkward.

Only you can really make that decision.

My way is to watch for a while using YouTube to watch real end user unboxings and reviews after general release to try and ensure as best as possible that there are no major bugs of flaws in the phone(s). Then I can make an informed decision to buy into them or not.

with SGs8: stay Tuned!

I feel they could have skipped facial recognition and bicycle and could have reduced the price. Then I would have it. Right now, it's too expensive for me.

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

I pre-ordered the S8 but this long waiting period coupled with all the reviews is making me second-guess my choice in color and size.

I am going to wait for the HTC U and only then decide. I have the M8 and love it.

Cheers

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

If you have an S7 (flat or edge), its better not to upgrade to S8. The same thing but with a few improvements (i think). Bigger Screen, a change of physical buttons, iris scanning, etc etc. Its better to wait for the s9. Its like if ur thinking about upgrading from S6 to S7, its not that great - but upgrading from S5 to S7 is better in terms of the what youll get and the money you will spend.

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

I voted no. After handling the demo units at Costo the other evening my decision is firm on this. Edge screens (and avoiding accidental touches) continue to be an ergonomic problem for me. What's worse on the s8 phones is the Bixby button. Its RIGHT where I want to grasp around the device and they made it far too easy to accidentally press. They should have used a stiffer clicking button.

Easy pass, for ergonomic reasons alone.
[EDIT] Just look at the marketing pics... The users finger is right where the button is located.

I'm definitely going to get the S8+ due to it's large screen with sexy looks

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

Been two years waiting for the next big thing. I became disappointed with the LG G3 because I found the display was just not bright enough; switched to an iPhone 6+ and jail broke it almost immediately. Loved it for two years but being stuck in version 8.3 with no update on a jailbreak and certain other things that come with it like the inability to upgrade certain apps that require a higher firmware version, occasional jail break freezes, etc. prompted me to finally jump ship back to Android. So here I am with an S8+ pre-ordered. In my experience Android has been less restricted and easier to understand and work with, so I'm looking forward to an interesting time with the S8+
...Plus for me the choice was easy because these eyes of mine are not what they used to be.

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

Currently the S8+ is too expensive compare to S7 Edge (and not many features were added to the S8 generation).

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

I'm waiting to see what one plus will release next before making any rash decision.

Re: Are you buying the Samsung Galaxy S8?

I'm like 99% sure I will get it, but with little enthusiasm or excitement. This is primarily due to the lack of any significant improvements to the camera, specifically the lack of rear dual cameras and higher fps slow motion. It doesn't really feel like there's a ton of improvements outside of aesthetics, and losing the home button is a real pain point for me -- I used to wake up the phone, answer calls, and, of course, scan my fingerprint with the home button. I could wake the phone and scan in one step by pressing and holding the button, something that is no longer an option. Frankly, I hate on screen buttons, they make typing hell when you dip too low reaching for the space bar.

It's also annoying that the screen is so tall -- I'm all for adding 200 pixels to make up for the usable screen loss for on screen buttons, but 400 pixels seems excessive. Pulling down the shade with the 2:1 screen requires extreme manual gymnastics or (heaven forfend) two hands. And I pull down the shade ALL the time.

And now I have to deal with either going with the S8 and losing battery compared to my S7 Edge or sticking with the S8+ but skirting past the point of one handed use. S8 with 3500 mah battery? That would have been a no brainer.

That said, I'll still very likely buy the S8 or S8+ because of things like the 64gb internal. Because the edges are less curved than the S7 Edge. Because the thing looks so damn nice. Because the G6 and the Pixel excite me even less. And frankly, Samsung locked me in because of Samsung Pay -- no other manufacturer has MST for payment, and in the US, you won't be able to use your phone to pay with a majority of vendors without MST.

So yeah, I'll be getting the new phone. But grudgingly so.
