Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?
No I did not plan on upgrading once I heard the size. The Nexus 5 size seems perfect to me. It is still a phone, still fits in my pocket comfortably and feels good in hand. The phablet category is not for me. iPhone 6 Plus, Note and Nexus 6 are not really my style. Maybe one day who knows, but for me, a 5.2 inch screen is about as large as I want to go.
Well, 5.2 inch screen isn't the best way to put it. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch screen and is 5.44 inches long, yet the Nexus 5 has a 4.95 screen and is 5.43 inches long. So I guess any sort of phone in your standard, no home button, Android phone with a 5.2 inch screen with small bezels is the max for me.
Wishing the Droid Turbo was the new Nexus spec wise. But I don't think Quad HD is worth it as of now, I need to see it. I have no problem with 720p if it means much improved battery life.
Does anyone have any comparison breakdowns of what battery life would look like for 720 vs 1080 vs Quad HD? I'd be interested in that.
Turbo Charging is huge, it's too bad I will miss out on that. But everything seems to be based on the Quad HD's ability to outshine 1080, including the new GPU, Adreno 420 (?) I believe. So far, from everything I'm reading, it's a wait and see to see if that truly trumps 1080p, and at what cost?
For me, the perfect phone to me is a Nexus 5 with 3,500 mAh and turbo charging for 350. I'm not really interested in anything yet as of now. Which me brings me to the price. 650! God damn. I loved being part of the bargain club with the Nexus, I'll be looking for the Moto G next year maybe. I don't know. Phones are all good now, I don't think latest and greatest is a requirement anymore, although it is nice to have.
