Are you going to buy a Nexus 6?

Will you be purchasing a Nexus 6?

I was going to attempt to buy one during release day, but I may just wait. I got a great deal on an new off-contract Note 4 and it should be arriving tomorrow. Gonna just wait and see what all the reviewers and people say about the 6 before I decide. Almost positive there's gonna be someone locally who's going to want to trade a Nexus 6 for a Note 4.

I am buying the Nexus 6 but I am waiting until February. I am waiting to see what the reviews say about real world battery life. That and my Nexus 4 still runs well and the N6 is technically not a need. More of a major want. Plus, I'm kinda hoping Google drops the price a few hundred bucks like they did with the gnex. Even if they don't this is probably the phone for me.

I'm a big guy with big hands and big pockets. I've been wanting a phablet for a few years now. I loved my n7 but I don't want to carry around 2 devices all the time. That and phablet tend to have the best battery life, which is a big deal to me since I travel a lot for work.

Since I buy my phones off contract and run them on Straight Talk, the Note 4 is out of my budget and I also have an irrational thing about not being able to bring myself to buy a Samsung phone. The only possible thing that could sway me is if Sony announces an awesome phablet before I pull the trigger in a few months.

What deal did you find on a off contract note 4?

Are you interested? I may want to sell my Note 4 to get the nexus 6. It's unlocked and off contract. I bought it out right with AT&T

I probably will now. Nexus is the only device left to android that doesn't have OEM software that comes from Asia. I'm willing to bet that Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, and Motolenovo all rent/lease their internet servers inside of China because they're the lowest cost in the entire region for their internet connected proprietary software. I also have zero doubt that the Chinese government is hacking those servers.

So are you saying that the Chinese government is installing some kind of spyware onto, say, Samsung phones and Samsung either doesn't know or goes along with it?

I'm saying that the Chinese govt is hacking the servers other companies are renting or leasing in China. Those servers are running cloud based software. Some Sony Xperia devices were the most recently affected. It stands to reason that Since China is the cheapest servers in the region, Korea and Taiwan likely use Chinese servers too. I'd rather play it safe and assume rather than wait for confirmation after the fact. But I highly doubt those companies are going along with it. My guess is that the Chinese government is doing it without permission much in the same way the US and UK are doing it to Google, Apple, MS without permission

In short, I don't think the Chinese govt could modify Samsung's software without their knowledge. It's one thing to hack into a server but something else to modify a Galaxy S5's OS files and avoid detection.

Nexus 6 is just too big. If it was the size of the new MotoX, then maybe, 5.2“ is a stretch. I believe the Nexus 5 was/is the perfect size for a mobile phone. So I decided I will be skipping this generation of the Nexus and stick with my N5 for another year. It is still in great condition and the release of Lollipop should give it some new life. Hopefully next year's Nexus returns to a more human sized phone.

Well Xiaomi phones do have spyware installed on them out of the box. But I doubt Samsung does.

Same for me. I was user of Lumia 1520 6'' for half of year and besides it was Windows Phone, it was too big to handle! I won't buy anything bigger than 5-5.2'' . Will remain on my Nexus 5

Well frankly after yesterday I don't think Google has much interest in directly selling us a Nexus 6 whether we want it or not. Obviously what they want is for us to all go line the pockets of cell companies as well as Google.

That is a true statement. I am sure that Verizon and AT&T are in on that plan. I do appreciate TMobile for at least trying to think outside the box with this phone and their contracts....

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

i'll give it a shot! looks good, big enough, fast enough, new enough :D

I'd like to buy it, however unfortunately I don't know when it would be available here.

I've heard it'll be in Australia in December, which is quite late. If we don't get it in 2014 at all, then I'll just skip it and wait for the 2015 flagships. Not going to wait for Google to get their crap together. The release of the phone has been handled horribly by Google.
