Samsung said to have bigger batteries, for longer battery life. The phones need to be bigger.
If you look the S7 edge is a bigger phone. It has a 3600 ah battery.
Some people like that.
But I hear some people say they like the size of the S7.
Decisions you got to make when upgrading.

You'll love it! We keep fidning out more stuff it does. Me and mu husband got the Edge but we've had 6 HTC phones starting with the Original 1st EVO and this is the best phone we ever had. Camera is amazing! The Edge battery is awesome and we like the bigger screen too compared to our last M9. You'll love it!

I just got the s7 on Saturday after years of HTC phones. So far, I like it, just trying to get used to it

I've always been a fan of the Note series and a fan of the bigger phones in general. My histories of Android phones are S3, Note 2, S4, Note 3, Note Edge, Note 4, S6 Edge+, and now the Galaxy S7. It's been a while since I have actually used a smaller screen and I actually really enjoy it. The reason why I upgraded from my S6 Edge+ was because of the non-expandable memory and the fact that it had a curve edge which got really annoying quick. My S7 is quicker than my S6 Edge+ and has a better camera with expandable memory and water resistance features which I utilize every day. Definitely one of the best Android phones I have used in quite some time.

I'm..."on the edge", no pun, promise... Have had a Nexus N5 for a couple of years - I promise...I'm no geek, just a bit cash poor...and I love it. Sleek, slick, simple, fast, etc...but am thinking I might something that "feels" premium.

Can't decide whether to make the jump...to the flat S7...

Not so fussed about "immediate" updates....but I do like the freedom that pure Android gives.

How tied to "Samsung" stuff will I be if I don't like it? What about Touch wiz - can these things be removed or disabled?

Also....did I read somewhere about the 'lock screen'...if I don't use the fingerprint scanner, there's a bit if a faff to go through to get unlocked...? Or have I misunderinterpretated something!?

Please redirect me to appropriate thread if better...

Many thanks!

According to the "experts", the phone feels premium. To me it feels slick and easy to accidentally toss and it looks premium as long as you don't touch it. It's a magnet for finger prints. But, I loved the look and feel of my S5 so maybe I'm not the person to judge the "premium" physical appearance and feel of the S7 :) A case solves those issues. I have a minimal style, clear back bumper case (Spigen Ultra Hybrid). That might sound like I don't like the looks and feel of the S7. I DO like it and I like the gold color I didn't expect to like. I guess I'm just old enough to prefer function over form.

You won't be "tied" to Samsung stuff and Touch Wiz can be replaced with a number of launchers. A lot of people like Nova. I don't have any issues with Touch Wiz and people that didn't care for it say this version is better than previous versions.

Lockscreen. I've never used it on this phone. Tried it on my S5 (not the fingerprint option) and didn't experience any issues. I quickly dismissed any password protection. I haven't read of any trouble unlocking the phone without a fingerprint but maybe those threads haven't caught my attention since I don't lock my phone.

I'll admit I totally upgraded from the S5 purely for the upgraded camera. One phone function and one app that I used ALL the time on the S5 are missing/don't work. Other than no Air View feature and Automatic Call Recorder not working (Marshmallow's fault), I'm happy with the upgrade.

Picked mine up Sunday, originally planned on getting it Friday but didn't end up going out. Then planned on Saturday and again didn't go out much. Sunday had to run some errands and decided to swing into Best Buy, glad I waited since the free tv deal started Sunday, so got my Black S7 and my free 32" TV.

Just bought the S7 2 days ago after a solid year with the iPhone! Last Galaxy's I had were the S2 and S3! I had the S6 for a week but the battery life proved to be terrible for me! Returned it and grabbed a Note 5 which I used for a solid 2 months! Battery was just okay.. lasted me from 7am till about 3pm.. nothing crazy. Sold it and went back to iPhone!

I loved everything else about it besides the battery life so when I heard the S7 battery life was massively improved for alot of people I decided to take the jump! So far im extremely satisfied! Havent stressed it TOO much just yet but I did get 5 hours+ SOT and 24 hours total battery life! If I can continue to get this type of battery life ill definitely stay!

Screen is still as beautiful as I remembered it! Probably the main reason I wanted a Galaxy! Love the colours and resolution! Camera is amazing although I dont really take THAT many pics! Design is still top notch (went with titanium silver)! And finally, once I get used to it again, I know that Android is just designed better than iOS overall!

Very satisfied so far! Lets hope this battery life doesnt get any worse! :)

I wish the s7 were same size and specs as the s7edge. I prefer flat screen but the s7 is too small for me. I'm used to a Note.

I agree that Galaxy S7 is not for everyone. However, all the S7 trade-offs are not new. Most people by now have decided whether they need a phone with replaceable battery or not, expensive or not etc.
THE GOOD- Polished design. Awesome camera. Long battery life. microSD storage slot and water-resistant (again!).
THE BAD- Annoyingly reflective. Smudge magnet. Plastic-looking selfies even with no filter. No removable battery, which isn't surprising, but is still a compromise compared to 2014's S5.

Go to places like Best Buy, play with the phone's.
Personally I think the S7, and S7 edge are great phones. Got fast processor's. You have to realize a smaller phone is not gonna have the battery life of a larger phone. But can you get used to a larger phone. Some people prefer a smaller phone.
They have battery packs you can get to charge the phones today.

Went to Best Buy to switch carrier from U.S. Cellular (too many reasons to explain here). Thought about AT&T. Salesman (smart kid) convinced me to go Verizon. Sat down to do the paperwork and the kid found they didn't have any Verizon S7s in stock. But, since he got no commission anyway, why didn't I go to the Verizon store down the street? I did. Got 2 S7s. Happy as a lark. The only glitch was I wasn't properly using the fingerprint ID. Once I learned, fantastic.

I also get reception at the cabin up in north Wisconsin where I never got reception with U.S. Cellular who says, "get clear connections ANYWHERE." to which I say, "BULL."

Ya got like 14 days to try phones out.
Different carries has antenna in different places
Verizon & AT&T are the 2 biggest carriers.
I go to one place fishing a lot. Verizon works best.
But I go about 40 miles to its sister lake and AT&T works best

Use yer 2 weeks and make sure it works in the places you use it through most
Tough having a new phone and it's limited where it will work

Hope you enjoy the speed of the processor on the Samsung S7.

I picked up an S7 yesterday. Had an S4 before that. The non-removable battery kinda ticks me off, but when compared to the S4 which of course is a much older phone the battery life is wayyyy better and with the super charging function it even charges quicker. The phone starts up wayyyy faster than my S4. Haven't really used the phone for surfing much yet. A friend has an S7 Edge and that was what sold me on the S7 plus the local Smart store here in the Philippines had a plan where the phone was zero out of pocket. Gotta love that. I didn't even think to ask, if I could get an Edge instead. Kinda stupid on my part. My next project is to Google how to use the wireless charging, if I can't find the answer here quick enough. So far so good. Oh, and the phone came with 6.0.1 Marshmellow and immediately was pushed to accept 6.1.1. Thought that was cool.

Wireless charging Isreal hard.
Ya have to buy a charging pad. Samsung makes a slow and fast wireless charging pad. The fast one is like 60.00

Just traded in my LG G4 for an S7. Was iffy about the Gold (only color the store had at the time) but a dark case solved that.

This definitely goes on the "best phones I've ever had list" which has my Palm treo 680, Note 2, galaxy S2 as well as a Nokia 6210 and 8210.

Fast, best looking phone I've had, great battery (we'll see again once I load this with apps), memory, great camera.

Minor issue with the lack of a dedicated menu button tho. Now I have to search every apps menu button instead of having it on the left of the home button.
