Yeah, unfortunately though, if that's what the Pixel 5 looks like it doesn't look as near as good as it leaked images so I was talking about before. But it is what it is that is Google's design language. That's for sure lol.

I have a P2 that is working perfectly, but I will purchase the P5 at Holiday pricing. I was hoping that it would have face ID, as the fingerprint reader never worked for me (I have old fingerprints!) ... the bigger battery sounds great because of the 90hz refresh rate ... I was hoping for the design with the camera bundle in the middle of the phone back, but, oh well! ... and a polycarbon back sounds just about perfect to me! I'm really looking forward to hearing more about this phone!!

I'm hoping someone will allow me to trade my P4XL even up for one. Love my phone and even though it's battery life isn't too bad it would be nice to have really great battery life like some other phones have.
Only other thing is I liked the camera on my older P2XL better than the P4XL. I'm hoping the P5,XL if they have one's camera will be better than the P4XL

I also preferred the photos on the p2xl than the p4xl. Thought it was just me.

How can such an old phone's camera even be remotely comparable or even better? I only have a Pixel 4 but I'm interested to know your thoughts.
They use the same camera module, believe it or not. But I found my p4 photos just a little less sharp and a bit more blurry. It wasn't a major difference just to my eye.

I had a lot of issues with the FPS on my Pixel 2 but the FPS on the P3 was fantastic, until it wasn't. FYI, wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol will remove all of the oils from your fingers, which helps a lot.

Sadly I don't think the 5 is going to be for me. I've got the 4xl and aside from the battery everything else would be a downgrade for my use. I like the hole punch in favor of the top bezel, but it's a smaller phone. I'd rather have the glass back than plastic, although that's not a deal breaker in itself. To top it off the Mid range soc just makes this phone such a confusing buy, and is my biggest gripe. It's actually a performance hit to move to a 5 from a 4xl. If the 4a didn't exist I would understand the move, but if their strategy is to exit the flagship market then I'm sad to think I may be looking for another brand when it becomes necessary to upgrade.

Yeah, I did that, a LOT! ... I really think it's just my old, dry, crosshatched fingerprints. Then again, it could be the phone's fault. I have no problem with entering my PIN, and I'm glad there's more than 1 security measure (including the "pattern").

Yup, dry cracked skin can make a big difference in fingerprint recognition. I'm a massage therapist, or I used to be before covid, so I've washed my hands many times throughout the day for years. I think this was part of the problem.

I absolutely LOVE the face unlock-- on my Pixel 4 XL thought. It's works every time except in complete darkness, thought it sometimes works then, and with a mask, and it sometimes works then as well

I made a suggestion to Google that they offer another face unlock profile in the software so that we could do one with and one without a mask, like many FPS offer the ability to register multiple fingers. Not everyone would do it, especially those that use Google Pay, but it would be nice to have this option.

What could a holiday deal look like?

I have a pixel 1, normal user. Could use more space only have 5gb left of 32gb

Feel like the 4a won't last for 5 yrs...is the 4 still a good buy?

It depends. I just bought a P4 XL for a great sale price. I love face unlock & Motion Sense, thought not everyone does. But I've realized that I prefer my Pixels smaller, especially since I also have a Note 20 Ultra.

I think the 4a is a worthy upgrade from the original Pixel. The P4 line is a newer processor than the 4a or the 5, but Google does a pretty good job of optimizing everything so I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 4a or the 5. Given that the Pixel is my second phone, I might have bought the smaller 4 if I had found a great deal on it, even knowing about the battery issues.

This is my non-answer, answer. Just giving you some things to consider. It depends on what's important to you: storage, battery, wireless charging, processor...

Don't need wireless charging...looking for reliability, storage, and won't be incredibly slow in 4 years.

My pixel 1 is still going pretty strong...lags at times, but I'm noticing the battery after use could use a quick charge each day

Wow, you're still rocking your OG Pixel! That's incredible! Do you have the smaller version or the XL version?

Not sure, I may be in the minority here but I like face unlock and soli and really thought Google would expand and refine the tech to put in the P5. Don't really know if 5G is worth it at this stage so if I'm not really blown away by some hidden or undisclosed features or a too good of a trade in deal to pass up, might just keep my P4XL for a while longer.
