So so so disappointed we are not getting pixel 5 xl. Might head back over to Samsung Note series if that is the case. Opting to a plastic 4axl is not an option for me. This sucks

I don't think you will be getting decent trade in if looking from Google.. They never come through.. I hear you on the 765G but when I see S20 Fe release for $700 and you can pick up for $600 right now.. Only thing better will be camera with Google..I'm considering it. Have a 4XL and an S20 now and love the size of the S20 so much more than the chunk of the 4XL. That said, I can live with the size if I have to. Face unlock is great except when I'm out and wearing a mask. With no FP sensor on the 4/4XL I'd kind of rather default to that and I'll take it any day over a front in screen sensor which it total garbage. Now if I could only get smart lock to work consistently at my house.
So yeah, bigger batter in a smaller size with double the storage and RAM and a real FP sensor? If I can get a decent trade in for my 4XL I might do it. I probably will.
I am getting tired of people knocking the 765G processor though. The media keeps using the term mid range for it when that isn't true. This is easily as good as the flagship processors that people with 2XL and 3XL devices are still using and talking them up. They are actually saving you money on the stupid 5G premium that Qualcomm is forcing on us. I'd be willing to bet that 98% of us will not notice any issues with the processing and in fact might really like the efficiency. Those of you that need more processing power should be looking elsewhere as this isn't the device for you. Also, WTH are you doing with your phone to need that? Buy a computer.....
I use my phone in a pinch for phone + RDP sessions to a work computer. In those cases it's nice to have something snappy. And sorry but I disagree with you. While you are free compare the 765g to processors that came out two years ago, for the sake of current gen silicon the 765g is very much so a mid tier processor. It doesn't even perform as well as the 855 in the pixel 4, last year's flagship processor. Yeah it may end up getting better battery life, and most normal users may not notice a difference, but the title it has been given is the title it deserves.I'm considering it. My Pixel 4XL is pretty damn near perfect on Android 11. I like bigger phones so I would only get the Pixel 5 if it had a bigger display than the P4XL...which all the rumors say it won't.
So I will hold onto the P4XL for a while longer
Yep. Staying on 4 xl too (came from 3 xl). Pixel 5 is way too dang small. Will wait for pixel 6 xl if none, heading over to Note 30My Pixel 4XL is pretty damn near perfect on Android 11. I'm not so sure now that I've seen the Samsung S20 FE. 120 hertz, 6.5 inches and guaranteed 3 years of updates and so many nice color options.
No I know, I'll likely put it on swappa or trade it in somewhere else.I don't think you will be getting decent trade in if looking from Google.. They never come through.. Specs FE
The S20 FE has a 6.5-inch display. That slots it right in between the smaller Galaxy S20 and the larger S20 Plus. Like those phones, the FE has a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother animations and graphics, but unlike those phones, its screen is completely flat and can’t be cranked up to a Quad HD+ resolution.
It’s also plastic on the back, but if it’s anything like the Note 20’s plastic, it’ll probably feel alright. Samsung is marketing the color choices heavily: there’s red, orange, lavender, mint, and white. All of those colors are prefixed with “cloud,” Samsung’s indication that they have a matte finish that should hide fingerprints.
Otherwise, though, the FE doesn’t skimp on specs. It has a 4,500mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, wireless charging, IP68 water resistance, expandable storage, and the top flight Snapdragon 865 processor.
Fair enough. Good luck with your decision.I use my phone in a pinch for phone + RDP sessions to a work computer. In those cases it's nice to have something snappy. And sorry but I disagree with you. And the processing power of the 765 is only half of the argument. It also has a MUCH weaker gpu which is important if you do any type of gaming and is probably the stronger of the two arguments. For someone like me who's deepest dive into mobile gaming is pokemon go, that's probably not an issue. For others it could be.
For me the 5 is a tough sell and it gets harder to consider upgrading with every leak that gets released. I prefer the screen size of my 4xl over the 5, I prefer telephoto over wide angle, the 4xl has better processing power, and to get really picky I like my phone's in white and the 5 doesn't have that option either.
With all that said I don't like the battery life of the 4xl, and the 5 looks like it's going to have really good battery life. And the screen on my 4xl is starting to show very minor burn in, a problem I never saw on either of my previous two phones, pixel and pixel 2xl.
If the 5 sells for 600-650, that's within a range that I may consider it, but any more than that and I'm holding out hope for next year's phone.
EDIT: https://www.phonearena.com/news/alleged-google-pixel-5-price_id127410
And according to the latest leak from a very reliable source the retail price in the US looks to be $699. Yet another downer and will all but seal my decision to pass over this one.
Nice colors wish they did same for flagship phones.. I ordered Navy..What kind of colour options are we looking at? Haven't seen these leaks yet!
Almost pulled the trigger on red...I'd get red.
Would be good idea.I hope this Samsung S20 FE discount at $600 right out of the gate will put some pressure at Google to price Pixel 5 at the same price. I highly doubt it though.
