Are you going to upgrade to the Pixel 2?

I went from 2 Note 7's to the Pixel, a note 4 before. I loved how fast the Pixel was. But in the past few months - I found myself frustrated over apps & features I could not do....

Of course, I now have a Note 8. If the Pixel 2 XL had pen support (or the iPhone since I have an iPad pro), I would probably jump ship quickly. I have until Friday to decide.... LOL that is when my 2 weeks are up on my Note 8.

Just curious what apps and features could you not do on the pixel? Just the pen stuff or?

A. I never buy cutting edge.
B. I'm very happy with my Pixel.
C. Since the first thing I do with a new phone is put it in a sturdy holster I don't really care what color it is.
D. Assuming it will be more expensive than the Pixel, no way. It's sad Google is competing with Apple on price and service. The race to the bottom is on.

There is probably a 60% chance I will upgrade to the Pixel 2 XL, if it is 100% confirmed that the headphone jack is gone.
If, by some miracle, it is determined that it will have a jack, I would definitely upgrade.

We're calling it 99% confirmed. Last 1% is Google saying it next week.

I am torn on rather to get the Pixel 2 128GB or spend a little more for the Pixel 2 XL 64GB. I will be getting and ordering it on launch day, just trying to narrow it down. I am leaning towards the 64GB XL....
Get a 2 XL for the battery and industrial design. It's no Essential looks-wise but might get you in the ballpark. Keep in mind that Google gives unlimited photo storage with their devices. Unless you have a lot of other files to keep locally (work documents, music, etc.) then 64GB should be enough. Google Drive is also an option for storage if you need it.

Not happy with S8 or are you like a lot of us that like to jump around. I'm ready to move but I've had my phone almost a year now.... Like that's a long time... Lol
I like the S8. Guess I'm just a phone *****, lol.

I bought my Pixel XL the day it dropped. I am a huge Google services fan - I use many of them. I am a freakin' Google Local Guide. I am all in.

But, the horrible BT stuttering problem that is so pervasive on this Pixel platform, and Google's lack of progress on fixing it, makes me very doubtful about buying a Pixel 2. There's some chance I'd go for it, b/c I love everything else about my Pixel, but I'll wait to hear what others report once it hits the market next month.

Listening to music, podcasts, etc., is important to me. I will not go another year without that capability. So, next month I'll either get a Pixel 2 b/c others report that BT works, or I am going for another phone.

Yikes! Learning that the Pixel2 doesn't have a headphone jack, and the OG Pixel has a horrendous record over the past year with bad BT, I gotta say, what the hell are you thinking Google??

Well, shoot...

Google will give $400 for a 32GB Pixel XL in good condition with no cracks - far more than I had expected, and more by a decent stretch than they're selling for in many cases on eBay.

If T-Mobile repeats their $320 credit (applied over 2 years) to people that bring their own Pixel again in response to Verizon being exclusive, that's an effective $720 towards the cost of the Pixel 2 XL. Cost on the 64GB version would be about $920 after tax for me, so a net investment of $200 to get the updated version with twice the storage, front firing speakers, etc.

My plans to wait another year might evaporate pretty quickly (though my purchase would have to be with the caveat that I might never see the last 50% of T-Mobile's credits if I upgrade again in a year).

The only thing that could tempt me is reviews citing great battery life on the pixel 2. My pixel makes it through half a day which just isn't good enough. I wish I could get the xl but it won't work with my needs at work.

Google's presentation pretty much guaranteed I am definitely not getting it.

I'm sorry, but they're basically condemning themselves to playing second or third fiddle to Apple and Samsung by not offering a competitive phone at a competitive price.

While I desperately want a pure Android OS with consistent updates, I could never rationalize spending over $1000 after tax for a phone that has less features and inferior hardware to phones at a similar price point to the Pixel or cheaper.

One of the reasons I went away from Apple and stayed away from Apple is because they started coupling a lack of innovation with inflated prices. Instead of following the lead of Samsung and leading the way in innovation, or following the lead of OnePlus and providing tremendous value, Google has instead attempted to minick Apple in many of the worst ways, IMO.

I just ordered the Pixel 2 XL: 128 GB. Just Black. Projected delivery date 10/20 - 10/24.

Wait, what? What did you watch?

I'm getting $410 trade-in, so that brings down the cost quite a bit. Any chance you have a trade-in?

What specifically do you value in other phones that is important to you, that you don't get with the new Pixels?

I loved the Preso (I thought the girl showing the AR was awesome by the way), and I thought they articulated some of the advantages and upgrades well (OIS in the camera, water-resistance, finally! Dual pixel technology, Portrait mode, Lens AI, Assistant improvements, unlimited storage, dual front firing speakers, etc, etc)

Now if you want to discuss 2nd or 3rd fiddle, that damn ordering process was like it came from a homemade Kickstarter company ( I know, comments for another thread)

I see no compelling reason to upgrade from my Pixel 1. If anything, may have sealed the deal to purchase the Moto X4 Android One version when the battery degrades on the Pixel 1.
