Are you going to use a different UI instead of Touchwiz?

I love virtual keyboard but then again I grew up with technology. Swype kind of leaves a bad taste for me, I honestly don't know why. It doesn't seem like it would be faster than the virtual qwerty.

Are adw launcher and launcher pro fast? When you hit the home button do you have to select either launcher every time? that would get annoying for me.

Swype is very fast, and perfect for one-handed use in Android's portrait mode. Just be sure you go through the tutorial so you understand how to use it properly. I find most people that complain about Swype never bothered to go through the tutorial.

ADW and Launcher Pro are very fast. You can choose what action the home button takes by default so there's no need to select which launcher each time.

It's Android - you have control.

It's probably going to take time for me to get use to the having control part. Thank you for the advice, i'm probably going to try it out for a few days of texting (I send anywhere from 50-300 in a day depending on if i'm working).

When a friend of mine showed me launcher pro there was some lag, and also he kept having to choose between launcher pro and stock android. It was annoying watching it.

I think you may be surprised by Swype then. It's perfect for quick SMS. For anything requiring more punctuation and longer than a few sentences, like a business e-mail, the stock virtual or hardware KB will be better.

Hmm, your friend just isn't very observant (see the checkbox)

If swype is faster than landscape mode then I will definitely use it. The stock 2.2 keyboard looks like the best virtual keyboard around.

Haha, I missed that option as well. I can kind of understand him not finding that just because he's a huge android noobie and probably doesn't realize you can do what you want.

I really like launcher pro, and I used to think that that would be my UI of choice if I was on a non-sense phone (haha, nonsense), but I've grown fond of touchwiz the more I've read about it. I'll give both a shot.

Out of curiosity, if you use a homescreen replacement like launcherpro, do you still have access to the Samsung widgets and other touchwiz customizations?

Same here, I just started using Launcher pro last week and it is very nice. I like it better than Sense to be honest. The app drawer and dock alone sells me on it.

Also, no you can't use samsung widgets on launcher pro just like Sense widgets can't unfortunately.
