Are you gonna buy a pixel or the 3 XL

Well after I seen the Boston and Yankees score I might need a new TV and living room set . I'm probably going to pull the trigger on pix 3 xl not regular ,but not yet a little more time. I do love my pix 2 xl it's in flawless condition and will be supported 2 more years. I waited 3 months after last year's launch and got it. I'll see
Plenty of room on my Brewers bandwagon

Was catching up with all the YouTube hands-on video ... Damn some toxic hate comments on the notch. Never have seen so much hate thrown at one phone. Good lord pretty much the same set of comments every where.

Yeah, lotta haters out there. But tbh, when there’s high level of haters, most are just jealous. Google is putting pressure out there with their AI/ML expertise and a lot of people hate they’re as good at it as they already are.

People that are toxic and that were never considering the phone in the first place are the worst or the lot. I don’t have that much free time to hate on a device that I have no interest in buying, but man some people have A TON of free time to troll and flame etc, etc. Personally, I’m too busy for all that...

I'm a bit torn. having passed on the 2xl last year because of all the screen hate and build quality complaints I was sure I would get the 3xl this year. but the design to me is so poor. Google copied apple again (just like last year by removing the headphone socket) by adding a notch but didn't achieve any of the other advantages, such as no chin. I get that it has front firing speakers but from reviews I've seen the latest iPhone gets good reviews for its speakers too.
so I don't like the design. I don't want to give Google my money for designing in my opinion such a poor phone. but I am interested in trying a pixel some time... maybe next year!

I'm pretty disappointed with the $150 price increase...like why?

Maybe they feel they are still under Apples prices of their high end devices...not the XR

Yep definitely no justification with the price hike and again this year there will be so many people fawning over these phones.

They talk about Apple fans drinking the kool-aid LOL.

I have so much to add here but I'll let these guys have their time. They love what they love.

I'm kinda torn tbh. I'm not due an upgrade until March so have plenty time to decide but I've wanted a Pixel for a while now for the simple software experience and it has a lot of features that are important to me like Always On Display, double tap to wake, raise to wake and a great camera. As much as I hoped "the notch" was a big joke on the 3XL it's wasn't but I can live with it thanks to the rest of the device. I was also thinking of going back to iOS with the XS Max but by March the phone will be 6 months old and only 6 months away from being succeeded. iPhone also lacks Always On Display and some of the features I like too. And of course the Galaxy S9+ comes out in March with all the bells and whistles you could ever wish for and 3 rear cameras. The days of me wasting a fortune on switching phones every 2-3 months are over so I need to choose something I'll be satisfied for a year with

I used to love the Nexus phones too and seeing Google’s arrogance and the hardware they make now it really isn’t justified.

Yes the Nexus phones weren’t top of the line but they weren’t priced likewise either but these Pixel phones are still missing tons of features other cheaper phones have or they’re very late to the game with certain other features *ahem* wireless charging (which the Nexus 4 from 2012 had) just boggles the mind.

I would wait for the S10 now.

Either one of the pixel 3's or wait for the s10. I may even finally buy a OnePlus this time.

So just because someone else doesn't feel the same they're drinking the Kool aid? Most of the issues people seem to have are the design and hardware choices Google's made. Design is subjective, and as for hardware, most of the things people covet on other OEM's devices I don't use. I don't begrudge people for choosing what works best for them, it'd be nice if that was reciprocated. But this being the internet I know that won't happen. I use what works best for me, not for you or anyone else. If I did that, then I would be a Kool aid drinking fanboy.

The only time I really accuse people of being blind fanatics is when they excuse issues with devices. The Pixel line has had it's share, but I didn't experience most of them personally. None of the ones I experienced were bad enough it made me want to switch.

I've owned phones from HTC, Samsung, Moto, and Google. My worst experience was with Samsung, but that doesn't mean I think everyone who buys them are drinking the Kool aid, just that I've never had any luck with Samsung devices whether phones, Blu-ray players, TVs, or washers. Now the ones who accused me of trying to sully Samsung's reputation when I was seeking help to resolve the issues I had with my Samsung products were. I didn't tell anyone having issues with the Pixels that they weren't having the issues they were having. I said the issues may not have been as widespread as they made them out to be, but that's not ignoring them altogether. There's a difference.

I wasn’t saying you specifically if that’s what you thought. I’m mostly referring to youtubers and mainly Lew from Unbox Therapy cause he’s caused so many issues over the new iPhones but when it comes to Android phones and now these Pixels which have obviously glaring issues he either doesn’t mention them or heavily glosses over them.

At BB now playing with the phones. Regular 3 is too small for my taste but still looks nice. The 3XL's notch is there but honestly doesn't look bad in person. Screen looks 100 times better than the 2XL with virtually no blue shift. The camera app is a bit more streamlined. Phone feels really good. I was on the fence yesterday. I'm preordering today.
