Are you guys actually using your keyboard

Funny enough, I use the virtual keyboard more than the physical keyboard and that's weird considering I returned my Evo due to me not being able to get used to the virtual keybord on it. Isn't that weird? I think the reason is because the Epic is much more comfortable in my hands so i'm able to type freely without many mistakes. With the Evo, it kinda hurt to hold it.

+1, That's almost exactly where I sit. I still prefer the physical KB since I returned my EVO to wait for this phone, but... I'm using swype more than I thought I would and liking it more than I did when I had the EVO.

Still having a really hard time with Swype. :( I thought that I'd get used to it once I had the device full-time, but I'm back to pretty much using the hardware keyboard 90% of the time.

That said, I was surprised at how quickly I got used to the Epic's hw keyboard after using the Pre for some long.

Surprisingly, NO! Maybe when I have to write a longer email or something, but I am LOVING Swype. It makes texting both challenging (learning curve) and fun!

Been using the physical keyboard almost exclusively. Though admittedly, I haven't really given swype a fair chance yet.

I use it almost 100% of the time, but I must say, the on-screen keyboard slaughters the iPhone's keyboard. I'm typing more quickly and more accurately than I ever did on an iPhone. Strange thing is, the Evo's on-screen keyboard felt a little worse in my opinion. Man, I am so happy to be back with Android/Sprint!

While I use both the physical and on screen keyboards pretty equally. I really enjoy using the physical keyboard to scroll the web (space bar and arrows ). Also great for page turnng on Kindle app.

I dont even need the physical keyboard, im thinking of getting a soft case for a phone similar to the ones for evo/iphone. That way my phone is protected and even though i cant use my KB, it wont matter cuz i dont really need it.

Now I just need to find a case like that, im sure they dont/wont exist.

Actually I'm using the keyboard quite a bit more than i thought I would, like 70% keyboard, 30% swype. Swype is awesome, but because I tend to text in landscape mode, I use the keyboard often. I use swype exclusively when I text in portrait mode.

One thing I miss from the Evo is HTC's version of the android keyboard.

i do use the keyboard. i'm usually switching off between the keyboard or the virtual keyboard. i dont really use swype. its just not for me just my own two cents but i have to agree with you on the htc android keyboard. i'm missing that alot. i came from the hero and got so used to it. now with the stock android keyboard i'm getting used to it. for example, does the epic have spell check? i really loved that on the hero

Hey, you guys had problem with Swype on the Epic? Try Swype on the EVO. All I can say is...well, I can't really say anything because it's that hard to use.

Check the settings. I saw something about autocorrect for the physical keyboard and something else. I think it may be the stock keyboard. I looked closely when I was typing and it had word prediction right under it.

I installed Swiftkey on both phones (Evo & Epic), and really like this one a lot. Is available as beta on the market you may want to try it.

i use the physical keyboard more than i thought. I am not fond of swype at all after i have tried it and want to know if there is an app that will allow me to put a t9 keyboard on my phone. Im hoping that someone can help me out with this

to switch keyboards. long press a text box and select input method. Select the samsung or android keyboards. I haven't used the samesung, so I don't know if it has a t-9 interface available under its settings.

I really do like Swype more than I thought I would. When answering a text I will begin to use it but in the middle of writing my reply I will turn my Epic to its side and slide out the keyboard because I paid $250 plus tax for a 4g phone with a keyboard and dagnabbit I am going to USE IT!

Have you tried Smarter keyboard from the market. It is actually very good.

I think you mean Smart Keyboard and no I have not. I will give it a look though.

You got it down! We paid for a freaking keyboard and a phone that's comparable to the EVO (besides GPU of course), so let's use the darn thing!

i have no option of a samsung keyboard. just android and swype. is this a problem?

Been using swype for the most part. Got the phone because I hate touch screen keyboards; but, swipe with one hand is amazing. Couldn't type that fast on my bb with that hand. Still think I can type faster on the bb and didn't need to look; but, I'm sure I'll get better at it.

Keyboard is deff useful for putting in log in and password stuff and games. A lot easier to edit as well with the keyboard: IE word and excel documents along with texts and emails when you make a mistake somewhere.

I like swype and I am quite accurate with it, but I am still no where near as fast with it as I am with the stock keyboard. I do have a question for the Epic owners. Is there a compact qwerty keyboard on the Epic? I live the compact qwerty and that would make the phone that much better to me. I would also like to add that it is great that Android users have so many options when it comes to text entry: swype, virtual keyboard, physical keyboard, voice to text.
