Are you jelly of Jellybean on the S3?

Somehow Samsung plastic = cheap yet HTC plastic = amazing build quality. The fit on Samsung phones is always tight and they are always well made in my experience. The first few runs of the OG EVO had boatloads of quality control issues. Every company has some bad runs.

In my experience, and from what I've heard from others, the issue with Samsung build quality has always been more of one with materials rather than with durability. To use the S3 as an example, it uses a glossy plastic that both feels thin (although it does seem to be durable) and just kind of like a toy. Samsung plastic feels to me like the dummy model phones that are in stores when they don't have the real thing on display. In contrast, other companies, even when using plastic, have succeeded in making of feel much more solid. The One X and the Nokia lumia 800 and 920 to name a few. It's matte texture, and it doesn't just feel like the phone is coated in some thin shell. Just my $0.02

Has htc fixed the multitasking problem? This was one of the main reasons why i had to part with htc and go with the s3. I do hope htc gets to build the next nexus. They're lcd2 display is the best hands down.

The multitasking issue is definitely fixed.

I have to admit, I'm jelly of the Sprint S3's jellybean leak... Can only mean that it's coming soon. Meanwhile, we haven't heard a thing about Jellybean for the EVO LTE. We got a glimmer of hope when it was revealed that the One X+ would launch with it, but that's about it. Never woulda thought a year ago that Samsung would be beating us to the punch with updates...

Officially, HTC isn't saying that they are or are not going to upgrade the EVO to Jellybean. That's straight off their website. As for the S3 getting the upgrade, I still haven't seen it for the CDMA networks and I don't know that they'll be any quicker with it than HTC. Since the NEXUS products are the only true Android devices, everything else is Android-BASED and has to go through a littany of additional issues related to the manufacturer's skins, the carrier's bloatware and the network/chip design. It therefore comes down to whether it is in the manufacturer's best interests financially to commit the resources to upgrading a product they've already been paid for. Let's face it, HTC is not as financially healthy as they were three years ago and Samsung's in a lot better shape.

Having said all that, remember that Jellybean just got a new update which could account for a short delay. I'm also quite certain that if the HTC ONE series gets JB, so will the EVO. They were released at about the same time with only minor differences in the case. It is a really short hop from the ONE series to the EVO once the CDMA thing is worked out.

Bottom line is that even though I love my EVO (and my original EVO, for that matter), my next upgrade will be for a NEXUS phone made by either Moto or HTC. That's the only way you'll ever be guaranteed to upgrade to the latest Android OS. The Nexus products are the only true Android devices.

I like that HTC has put rubber backing in a lot of their devices. That makes it feel a little better in the hand. But Samsung devices are lighter. Plus, if you use a case, it doesn't really matter. They all feel the same to me afterwards. I prefer the Samsung devices due to the Super AMOLED screens.

Most definitely NOT fixed. HTC says there is no problem and its working as designed. Doesn't work well though.

The One series is getting JB, and I'm sure the EVO is too, its just a matter of when.

Even with nexus devices unless you buy it through the play store unlocked. You still have to wait for carriers to approve the updates for them before they are released.

Yes...but...the source is at least out there to build off of early.

As I have said several times before, there is no "broken" or "fixed" with "multitasking" on Android devices. That is like trying to measure distance with "yes" or "no". There are a wide range of behaviors depending on a wide range of factors. Every Android device I have had has behaved differently. Generally, before the last update, I would rate the Evo LTE's "multitasking" (it is more complex than just "multitasking) as poor. And after the update, I would rate it as good. Not great, not excellent. Generally on par with some of the other Android devices I have used.

I think the main remaining problem is that Sense/Sense Apps/services are just too large, not leaving a large enough pool of free memory for whatever settings HTC chose to use. It is quite usable now, but certainly not perfect.

To tell the truth multitasking has to be the worst aspect of this device. I rate it on par with the droid 3 I had which I would put in the poor category. I just can't get my head around the fact that HTC didn't fix this prior to launching the s4 powered devices ( havent seen near the amount of complaints about the t3 powered one x). HTC knew their apps required a considerable amount of resource and rather than spec the device with a decent amount of RAM but they left it as is with 1 gig and an overly aggressive low mem kill limit . And said the devices are working as intended. For awhile I couldn't run the chrome browser without it killing my device. Post update with the decreased memory carve out for the s4 my phone is better but I still have issues using the chrome browser on my phone especially if I try to have a background task running at the same time like play music. Luckily for me if it all works out I will be picking up the note 2 on the first

I understand that. That's why I said HTC says there is no problem and its working as designed, but not well.

I've read on these forums that the s3 us version isn't getting jb until beginning of 2013 so no reason to be discouraged my friends

I don't really care when the update comes. I'm content with how mine works now. Awesome device.

I just got my s3 today will be replacing the evolte and to tell the truth it's a hell of a device just as fast as the evolte but has the ability to switch between large apps with ease. And from my teat so far it holds lte better also

until now Sammy has been lazy with updates, so thats a good thing for people that own those devices, yeah they make cool and funny commercials poking fun at the iphone sheople that I get a kick out of, but the fact remains that their devices feel flimsy and cheap compared to htc imo, as I said earlier I"ll take my better built htc device and get jb later over that rubbish Samsung product

I wouldn't call Samsung products rubbish they make plenty of good products phones tvz washers refrigerators ect its just their choice of material to use. I personally like the way my E4GT feels in my hands ymmv

Sammy phones are cheaply made! There are no if, ands or butts about it! If you can't see it you are blind or a phanboy!

Yeah that's a solid point. Samsung is outselling everyone right now and the only logical explanation is that they're cheap! How's your cast iron HTC? What is your favorite cobbler recipe that you've used it to make? What kind of gas mileage does your 100% steel vehicle get? I wish Glock would also stop making their handguns out of polymer (plastic) cause clearly everyone is sick of it. No one else uses plastic these days. Get with the times Samsung! Why can't you flounder at the bottom of the barrel like HTC and Nokia!?

Of course it is. They use the exact same processor/chipset and are running a similar version of Android.

but has the ability to switch between large apps with ease.

That is because the GS3 has only one real advantage over the Evo LTE, it has twice the memory. And that is a nice advantage indeed. Quick swap battery is another possible advantage, although many people don't care (because both have a long battery life). For those, you give up the better screen, better casing, kickstand, and camera button.

So much for that. Sprint is rolling out the JB update for the GSIII today.

Im sorry guys but the Evo LTE is a real bust. Its undeniable that Sammy has turned a new leaf with product support. We've had 6 new radio versions that have made LTE almost usable in all of Houston and The Evo LTE can't hold a candle to that. Ive been running JB for 2 weeks now with the leak and now its official. I knew I had made the right decision to go with GS3 and not the Evo.. I feel bad for you guys.

No need to feel bad for "us". So what exactly makes it a bust? Lack out popularity, sales, or inferior performance compared to others in its class? The device has received all promised updates, including the most recent that actually increased the device's performance and addressed issues and complaints. Out of curiosity, say for instance the EVO gets JB two weeks from today, will you fell bad for us then?

My phone can't even tell me who's calling me until after I let it go to voicemail or answer it. Let alone load a text message in a reasonable amount of time. I feel bad for me.

And regardless of which version of android we have if they keeping leaving gaping holes in performance I'll continue to feel bad for us. I switched to android and to sprint for this phone and I'm feeling pretty let down with it. Every time I pick up this beautiful piece of hardware and the caller ID doesn't work a little piece of me dies....(you have to still have a sense of humor about it)....no "sense" pun intended
