I am still getting the HTC One though because I can't stand the feel of plastic phones. I'm also skeptical towards buying an LG phone.
I'm not sure about LG phones either, or mostly LG bloatware, but don't 90% of all phone users cover their phones with a "plastic" case and hardly ever see what is underneath? So who cares if it is light plastic or heavier metal under there? You never see it.

Cases? Gross.

My Nexus has been naked for about 80% of its life. I feel like phones with curves need to be shown off. Just gotta be careful not to drop them.

I'm not gonna pay premium prices for a phone that's pushing 6 months old. I waited till July, then I went with the GS4. Had the One been available, I'd have bought it. I despise Verizon but I live in a rural area and have no choice.

I convinced my gf months ago this phone would perfect for her and I. Now due to the delay I'm waiting out the LG G2.

The answe that you want Is in the question that you state.

Would have bought the phone at full retail if it came out on Verizon in May or June but not anymore.

No way I am paying $599+ for an outdated phone when the next 1-2 months will be full of releases.

If I want the HTC One, I'll wait 2-3 weeks after release when the price will drop to $300-$400 range. No doubt it will because the phone is old as dust in the phone world.

Ill try to answer your question for you. The brands we are going to see from are HTC, LG, Motorola, Apple, and Samsung.

From HTC we have the One coming this week and the One Max potentially in a month or so.
From LG I don't think we will see anything besides the G2
From Motorola we have the Moto X coming soon and the three Droid phones this week.
From Apple we will see the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in a month or so.
Finally from Samsung we have the GS4 out and all we will see coming is the Note 3.

Unless you are interested in a large phone like the Note 3 or One Max or an iPhone; the HTC One or Samsung GS4 are going to be the two best phones we will see this year. The One may be a few months old but we aren't going to see anything better in terms of andriod and this size factor on Verizon until next summer at the earliest.

It looks like it's gonna be between the Samsung S4 and the HTC One.
I don't feel like waiting for the G2. It could be December before Verizon starts selling that phone.
And the new Motorolas do not impress me AT ALL.
So it's down to those two...

HTC had their shot to get this phone out back in May on Verizon. For whatever reason, Verizon and HTC couldn't agree on something. And considering the phone was announced 2/3rd's of a year ago, the only appeal lasting is the phone's design. The hardware doesn't attract me unless it's upgraded to a 800 processor. Which the Max might fit that bill. Otherwise, I'm giving the new G2 a long and hard look. Plus, I like the nano sim on the LG so I can swap between my iphone and android on the fly.

Jeez, you are so demanding..... I honestly don't believe smartphones processors go out of date unless they are extremely sluggish, which we all know the HTC One it's not.

Thanks and figured as much. 4.7-5" is my sweet spot so for me the HTC ONE will remain on top or close to the top probably well in to next year-

Will VZW get the Nexus 5 though? That would be the phone worth waiting for...

Yeah THAT would be something to salivate over.
But I don't see it happening.
It looks like Verizon's abandoned the Nexus line.

I love how people call this phone outdated. Since its release, there hadn't been a better phone out. I had a S4 and I use to be a big Samsung guy, but too be honest I think the S4 is a gimmick and so is it's features. The build quality is a joke when compared to the HTC One.

The only phone that is worth waiting for the rest of the year would be the G2 abd to be honest, other than the Nexus 4, there really hasn't been a good phone from LG.

As for the note 3, it's just going to be a large gs4 and after owning the note 2 for awhile, I will never carry around such a big phone again.

I will be deciding this week, it's either the HTC one or Moto X(for stock experience).

Thats where I am at right now. My roommates, working for ATT, have already custom ordered their Moto X employee phones and ill get a chance to really play with it next to my One on launch day

I voted If I can afford it. Im thinking that if I have unlimited data and want to get the discounted phone price that has to change, correct?
