Are you still happy with the g4?

In recovery menu - should be
"wipe cache"
on my Verizon the menu is called "System recovery" - options are continue power up, safe mode, USB debug mode, FDR,Wipe cache, or power down

Got it...just did it...restarted up normal speed. Maybe the App Data Cache wipe I did did the same, or helped somehow. Hopefully this will help all the nags. Thanks :).

I believe the procedure is:
1. turn phone off
2. press power & vol down
3. do NOT release either until "recovery menu appears"
4. use vol (up or down) to go to option you want - clear cache
5. use power button to select
6. let it do its thing, should just restart, does take time - several minutes
or google "how to clear cache on LG G4" or "go into recovery" - I guarantee there is a youtube video

It doesn't take several minutes to clear cache. Takes about the same time to restart the phone normally.

I'm still very happy with my G4 even though it had the same "boot loop" bug happen a few weeks ago that a TON of other folks had.
I got my replacement device in a day from T-Mo and it has been amazing. (still)
Great photos
Great screen
very good battery life, even though I use it a lot!
Speedy!
Voice calls sound good.

3 days battery life if I want it. Nice screen. Plenty fast enough. Good camera. Good storage. Size is okay.

Yeah I still like it.

Please tell us how you set up the G4 to get 3 days of battery life - I for one would like to know what you shut off and what you've kept in order to be so easy on the battery? Thanks!

I'm bored with it :-P Great phone but.....since i'm on Jump on Demand T-mobile I might get the v10 for a while and see what LG comes out with next

I loved my g3, but opted for the s6. Just sold it and bought the g4. Such a difference. Better battery, doesn't lag, doesn't overheat, sure it isn't glass and metal build but lg really is putting the best smartphones out there. The expandable storage and removable battery. I mean its a monster! People just gotta see it! Samsung is like iPhone of the Android world lol

The note 5 is also a beast. The funny thing is my battery last all day on this note 5. I traded in my g4 for a note. I live both phones.

Agreed here... as Iam a tech geek.. hehe...I recently went through a phone swapping crisis :) and for over 2 weeks I had a Lumia 930 WP. an S6, a Z3 and back to G4.. and I just love the G4. I cant stand cartoony TouchWiz.. ok ill admit.. SS have improved and removed stuff and.. ok removing the battery is meh.. coz you can buy a cheap 3000 mah Powerpack.. but to pull an Apple, remove the SDCard, forcing us onto the cloud or making us pay almost £100 for a 64 or 128GB model.. is a masive No-No for me... next step after SDCard remove is.. youll have Samsung locking us into their version of iTunes, building special non-standard usb plugs and sockets, and charging us £30 ($40) for a new cable... I think not..

LG still cares about its customers.. we can choose our own means of storage, if the battery fails, you just buy one on ebay for £10, not £400 for a new phone.. and the G4 supports the biggest range of Audio and Video Codecs..

The camera is amazing.. theyve even reduced image over-shapening and noise under v20d of MM.. The back spoeaker, while it shouldve een on the bottom or the front.. is loud and clear, the call quality is incredibly clear and crisp, nice big 3000mah battery, Gorgeous 5.5" screen for movies and media.. which IMHO is as good as AMOLed, but doesnt suffer with the light bleading and eventual fading issues of Amoled.

Cosmetic thing but the great range of leather and plastic backs I can interchange depending how Iam feeling..

What more can I say..

I got a brand spanking new G4 today from Amazon UK in black leather with a free gold back cover in the box. Manufacturing date is Feb 2016 I was so surprised to have Marshmallow right out the box. So pleased

Nope. I'll be replacing my G4 again. It will be my 4th or 5th. I've lost count. A couple were warranty replacements (touch screen issues),and one was insurance (my fault). This time it just died with no warning. I'll get another since it won't cost anything but I am really looking for something else. Nexus 6P probably. I'm on my trusty backup again (Nexus 5). I thought LG was a solid company but it seems quality control there is trash.

My sons g4 boot looped right when he was ready to jump and had to warranty it first. Mine is paid off but the headphone port is going out. I'm starting to think LG has a hardware issue all around.

Have you tried using a toothpick or other non-metallic thing to clean out the headphone jack? It's common to get pocket lint into them, which causes connection problems.

My G4 crashed just recently. Wouldn't get out of the start LG screen no matter what I did.

Brought it to the store and they fixed it but the experience was such a long hassle that I ended up trading it in for a galaxy s7.

I never had a Samsung phone crash to the point that I couldn't do a soft or hard reset on my own. And the last time that even happened was on a Galaxy S2 when I botched a firmware install on heimdal or was it odin? I forgot lol

Besides that the minor issues I experienced with the LG were these:

1. Schizo screen auto brightness
2. Annoying "I didn't hear what you said" bug when plugging headphones
3. Very slow cam focus
4. Stock keyboard not expanding on landscape
5. Had to put thin paper on sims because of loose connection

But the overall experience was OK until it crashed when I was out of town on business and that was my only phone. I had EVERYTHING on it so it was a tremendous hassle.

When I got back home I used my old galaxy s4 and found how easy it still was (is) to use so I decided on the S7 when the LG got back from service.

After a hard reset. I found I need to do every few months, I'm good as new again. It's a love / hate relationship. Much more love though.

No. Not happy at all. Love/hate is a good way to describe this. Awesome device when it worked on LP. With Marshmallow, it's awful. I can't depend on it, which means it's out.

To be fair, I've read of folks who say their Verizon G4 is great with MM. Good for them. Not mine. Verizon and LG made a great device into a paperweight by pushing MM to my phone. I get intermittent WiFi and BT drops and a lot of app lockups for no apparent reason. I've tried default settings, Safe Mode, default permissions, factory resets followed by select restore, and resets without a restore. No change. I even reflashed LP to fix this thing. That worked. My phone was back. But I wasn't able to prevent LG and Big Red from pushing MM two weeks later while I wasn't looking, so I found myself stuck again with a device that didn't work right.

For now, the phone is powered down on my desk. I've moved back to my BlackBerry Z30 while I decide whether to wait for a software update maybe coming soon (yeah, right -- this is Verizon) or buy something else. The problem is that I don't know what I'd replace it with.

Yah, my current unit is a refurbished warranty replacement. Original unit I won, so I have yet to actually pay for this phone. The original got hit with boot loop which is why I have a replacement. Thing is wonky though. Like others have noted, BT and WiFi are not reliable (good grief #LG, it is 2016 - how you can you not have figured out wireless connectivity yet?). The phone has been choppy and lagging too. I think it needs a reset. I can't remember if this unit shipped with M or if it was updated. AT&T pushed M to the G4 in February or late January I believe. I'd have to look up when I got my replacement.

Big "again": It was a free phone. No idea what I'll eventually replace it with. Love the V10 and long term reviews are good. I am still technically paying off my G3 (one more payment). I did a factor reset on the G3 and then it got M and has been working great. Between the two phones, I'll probably be okay past the release of the Note 6 in the fall.

I have the V10, used the G4 prior to that. The G4 was handed down to my gf and she loves it. A huge improvement over her old SG3. I never had a problem with wi-fi, or slow interface on the G4 - at least until mm bugs worked themselves out with app updates. I really love the V10, The DAC alone was worth the upgrade. The larger screen and minor improvements all around make the difference for me. But I can't say it makes sense - G4->V10 for the typical user.

Happy enough to keep it as a backup phone once I get the Note coming out next month.

Not at all. I'm on my fourth one (for bootloop issues) and now this one is having intermittent lockups for about 5-10 seconds. It's so very annoying. I just want out of this phone, but VZW and LG won't do anything for me, and I don't want to pay the $300 or whatever I owe right now as a lump sum and then spend another $500 on the Nexus.

I'm just kind of stuck.
