Thank you for all the responses. I am probably looking at either the Moto 360 at $180 or the Gear 2 Neo at $200. I will go check them out in person since I have not had any hands on time with any smart watch. I am also going to check out the Gear S. While it is more than what I am looking to spend it sounds like those that have it really like it. Might be worth it to take calls without having to have my phone on me. I probably will go tomorrow and check them all out at lunch.
Here's what I did with my smartwatch on my Note4 today.
I took both my Fit and S on a kayaking trip. Fit was connected to the phone, S remotely connected for phone calls as well as other stuff.
On the Fit I set up a Cycling session to trigger the GPS on the phone to sync my location to the watch and s health app. I went kayaking and when done opened s health to get the measurements, map of route, etc. I did 2 sessions because I wanted to make notes on the maps later for points of interest (fishing spots) along the creek

On part of the return trip I did the same but on the S with its standalone GPS.

Here's what it looked like on the S itself

That whole thing started months ago when I started kayaking ponds and doing depth readings for fishing by mapping the pond first, doing an exercise session, screen shot it, use the s pen to screenies and jot depths on the shot. The s pen works just fine through my Joto phone dry bag/case, the only caveat being not drop the s pen lol. When paddling I'd drop it in the bag and after taking a reading open the bag, pull out pen, close bag, do my thing. This was my first attempt.Completely awesome experiment![]()
I was using a rope with a knot every foot method.Nice! What would be cool is if your depth finder had a way to sync with the Note 4 via Bluetooth, NFC, or ad hoc WiFi so that you can annotate the finder data map and GPS points in real-time like you are with the S Pen.
