ARHD Wake up with volume question

Hey guys, I'm thinking of changing from stock Sense to the ARHD ROM for all the improvements and the volume wake up got me really interested. I use my phone alot for music so how will using this feature affect changing the volume of music when the phone is locked?
Right now I'm guessing I'll have to unlock first with power button then I can change volume with the rocker. Is that right?

Mine switches back to volume functions after phone is locked. And if I'm playing music ands the screen is locked the volume keys work as they should.

There are several kernels with other sleep and wake options such as longpress the HTC logo or swipe right across capacitive area to wake and left to sleep

HTC One - Unlocked, ARHD 12, Bulletproof Kernel, Several mods.
