As an S20 owner, how you feel about iOS 14 features?

You know the cool thing about iOS 14 though??

That if you have a 5 year old iPhone 6S... for whatever reason you still have one maybe because you just can't afford a new phone every 2-3 years... Apple will still think about you and give you iOS 14 when it's released to get as many of those features that your hardware can support.

My Note 8 that retailed for close to $1000?? OneUI 2.1 for example... Less than 3 years old and my phone is "too old" for Samsung to bother giving me OneUI 2.1 :-\

That's why I've avoided buying one for so long. lol
I avoided Windows forever till I got upgraded to Windows 10 at work. That lead to a Dell Latitude for the wife/kids and a Surface Pro 7 for myself. Honestly just as happy with Windows 10 as I was with MacOS.

Looks nice and I like what I saw. Ideally I would have liked the default app selection to extend beyond just email and browser app but I'll take this as a start.

Not about the S20, but seeing that a lot of you are Apple lovers I thought this would be an appropriate discussion. What do you guys think of Apple adding picture in picture, sizeable widgets on the home screen and now an app draw to their iOS? Do will consider this innovation or just bringing up options that should already be present on a flagship device?

To me I don't care who did it first so much. iOS is good at some things and Android is better at others. I personally prefer Android but I do have an iPhone on another line.

Today's keynote was okay. I like that this might force google to pay more attention to Android widgets and that excites me.

Not sure it will make google pay more attention to widgets as unlike apple developers make their own widgets. That's what separates the two os's apart. You are still limited to the type of widgets you have acess to. It's a step in the right direction, but I doubt google is losing sleep over this implementation. Now messages is a different story. For now I can see why iMessage is the preferred messaging app. Those improves are what I feel google will pay attention to as they should.

For me, iOS 14 will be a ground zero point for iPhones. For the first time in many years the UI will have some decent and much welcomed changes, and I cannot wait enough to put my hands in it. Widgets? God, I've been waiting for it since, at least, 2010, and I have no shame saying that's one of my favourite features in Android. Picture to picture, apps tray... Ok, Android have all of this for a lot of years, but this doesn't make the fact that Apple is introducing it less amazing. To have a system adopting some of the strongest points of its competitors can never be a bad thing. I really hope this will lead Google to concern and come back making great addictions to Android as well, for it, too, doesn't make significant changes in the OS for years, now.

I'm really interested in iPhone 12 right now. Less for the hardware, much more for he OS which, in any case, I'll receive in my now three years old iPhone X.

It probably won't get me to buy a phone. Honestly, I really like Android on my phone, have a ton already invested in apps, like the Google integration and still prefer the intents/share system on Android for phones.

But this may get me to finally buy an iPad.

And, if Apple ever makes a round watch, I may need to rethink my attachment to Android.

The not so cool thing is that older iPhones WILL NOT support ALL the features in iOS 14 so there.

iPadOS is very polished. Although I still prefer Android tablets I could be content with an iPad pro if only until the next galaxy tab release lol

I think it is great that they are adding widgets and picture-in-picture functionality to their OS, along with more streamlined messaging in iMessage. It is something I felt they should have done a couple updates ago. With the stuff they have planned, their tablet experience will be hard to beat.

As someone invested more in the Google ecosystem than the Android devices, iOS 14 will make it even easier to use Google services on an Apple device.

But hasn't it always been easier to use Google services/apps on iOS?? I have had Google apps on my iPhone when i was using it or on my iPad Pro forever.

Checking this tweet... is this a feature of iOS14 where you can set double tap to open an app... or Google Assistant setting to enable double-tap on back?? I didn't even know iPhone has a sensor on back to even detecting taps lol. If Google, it seems they always make their apps better on iOS than on it's own platform.

No it hasn't because of the way they don't allow integration. Also people correlate Google with Android. Yes same company but different divisions just like Samsung with their screens. iOS gets more attention due to it being more popular and also (my opinion) not integrated into the hardware so they go out of their way more to release features to them first to keep consumers into their products.

Double tap the back to perform action like Google assistant, go back home, lock screen, reachability, volume up or down, notifications center, app switcher.. .. Nice features added
