So recently, my son was diagnosed with being on the Autism spectrum. Does anyone here have any experience with this or anything similar? We basically knew this for years now, but it's now official. It's just kind of hard to hear obviously because no parent wants their kid to be different than others. And for us, this changes nothing other than he needs a little help with certain things. He is considered "high functioning," according to the people we have been working with. We do not let this define who he is though.

I am interested in hearing other experiences.

I have a nephew that sounds similar to your son as far as his overall ability to function. He's an extremely sweet, kind, and naive young man, which has made it a little harder for him to adapt to living on his own in this opportunistic society... but with some support and a few "life lessons" that was frustrating to watch him go through, he's turned into a very independent adult who knows what he wants and is able to live on his own, and is happier overall than most people I know.

I'm very proud of him :D I hope this helps some ;)
