Ask us about the Sprint Evo 4G

More importantly, someone (Phil?) needs to find out more about that "premium data" charge. Is it added on top of existing plans per phone? For example, I am in a family plan. If I pick up an Evo do I just pay an extra $10 per month, or does the entire family plan change? Also, is the premium data plan an option or is it required? If it is required, that is kind of BS since there are still a lot of areas in the country that don't have 4G, like Cincinnati where I live.

Does anybody know what accessories that will be available on launch day? I'm hoping for some cases and a car dock

What I like to know if anyone knows how fast the EVO will be updated with 2.2? I have a Hero currently and I'm thinking about the upgrade. However, I also know Sprint does not really care about their customers.

I would like to know if the preloaded apps are taking away from the 512 RAM or is that the amount of RAM left including the preloaded apps? And is Sprint going to allow us to remove preinstalled apps such as "Nascar", which I never use?

This is a basic hardware question that I hope will be easy to answer: With many phones these days you get a headset that has a mic and controls the phone (at least to switch between audio and calls). Will the Evo have this functionality? Do other HTC/Sense/Android phones have these? Will my Pre headphones work with an HTC phone? Or do I have to step up to BlueTooth to get this functionality?

After driving with a phone that switches between my podcasts and a call, I can't go backwards. And no, I don't even have a working stereo in my car, let alone bluetooth.

Come on people, seriously!! I didn't think this would be such a hard question to answer. Does the Incredible come with headphones? The Moment? The DROID? The Hero? Will my Pre headphones work? Do I have to get a bluetooth stereo headset?

Just a yes or no: will a wired headset with mic control the phone and stereo functions? I'm begging here people!! Thanks!

I've had Sprint for a few years and have no issues with them. The issue for updates, especially on this phone, will be getting HTC Sense and 2.2 compatible. I'm sure they'll push it out ASAP.

I'm guessing it starts with 512 RAM and the preloaded software reduces it. And I know you couldn't get rid of the stupid NASCAR app on the Pre (althoughm thanks to homebrew, you could hide it), so I'm assuming that'll be the case on the EVO.

Four quick questions, and thanks again for fielding these for us!

1) Do your upcoming calendar appointments show up on the home screen like they do on the HD2? (its displayed under the time and weather).

2) Does the time that the alarm is set for show up on the home page as well, like it does on the HD2? (its displayed under the time and weather).

3) Have someone call you or text you while your phone is locked and dont answer - do you get an LED notification like on the HD2?

4) Can you password lock the phone like other Droids (the swipe-type password)?

I wish there colored notifications.. But I was just reading about Chomp SMS sound cool. I was also told about another one which is at the app brain site Handcent I think it's called and it has colored bubbles you make for people.. So like could I install both and then just open the one I want to use then close it and open and try the other one? I am not familiar with how Android works. and if I have one open to use will it ne used over the default HTC one that comes with the phone? Someone at work last nnight was showing me there Droid with 2.1 and the difference between like he had a FB and Twitter widget and the actual apps. And he showed me how to move to trash and re add something. His Droid had like 3 home screens I think. I just hope I understand it all. But I am coming from an HTC TP2. So I hope it's fairly easy. ans I love the live wallpapers too.

I'm running Android 2.1 with Sense on my Hero. So

-Customizable SMS tones and vibration
The default messaging app allows for custom tones. The vibrate feature can be turned off or on, but not customized otherwise. You can very easily switch to a different messaging app available in the marketplace. I use chompSMS and much prefer it over the stock app. It also allows for custom vibration options.

I have one of the first HTC EVO's. Where is the SIM card hiding? I looked under the battery, everywhere. Does this Sprint EVO have a built in hidden sim that can be removed and replaced with another carriers SIM card, such as a pre paid carrier?
