http://forum.androidcentral.com/epi...c-4g-official-froyo-eb13-w-optional-ext4.html
i havent flashed any roms or anything like that, just froze some bloatware
now when the gingerbread ota comes out will i be able to update
im not worried about losing root but will the process be fine or will i have to unroot
if i do have to unroot can some1 guide me to a link that will help me unroot without wiping
thanks in advance :)

1. If you only rooted the stock OS to freeze bloatware and never converted to EXT4, flashed any ROMs, removed any bloatware and were receiving another OTA Froyo update I would say your fine and SHOULD receive the OTA update. This is unlikely because we probably are done seeing any further Froyo updates.

2. Seeing how Gingerbread v2.3.3/2.3.4 (depending on which version they release) is a completely different structed OS I would say you probably would need to unroot to receive the update and for it to complete installation properly.

I could be wrong on this but I don't think anyone is really going to know until the OTA comes out. As far as data being lost/wiped your safest bet is to use Titanium Backup/MyBackUp Root to save all your important data. Once upgraded to official GB and root is re established you can then restore your data. Like I said GB is structured a lot different than Froyo in coding so there are unforseen conflicts that could arise.

To restore your device back to factory for the OTA update see the How To Restore Factory or A Bricked Device sticky/thread and select EB13 (procedure #2) for the least problematic path then let your device auto update to EC05 and wait for your GB update.

I know this might sound stupid but would using odin to go back to Di18 be allright?
I would feel more comfortable doing that coz there are pictures (I deff don't wanna brick my phone)

When the OTA does come out, I think the safest thing to do is, as Paul said, Save your data using titanium, and then odin back to stock, which in this case DL18 would be fine to Odin back to, since it will automatically start downloading the update for you. With oneclickroot, it only takes a couple seconds to root again when the time arises for some sweet Gingerbread roms

Why not flash directly to eco5. The procedure is exactly the same, just use the eco5 tar instead of di18.

I asked myself the same question but if the OP is more comfortable following the procedure with screen shots and then allowing the device to receive the OTA updates then that's fine too. Next time I Odin EC05 I will grab screen shots to put up.

Try to see if an upgrade is available now (EC05), if you do not get that, then you will not get any other OTA's. Since you are on a rooted EB13, my money is on NO, you are not going to receive any OTA's. If that is the case, when the GB update starts rolling out, ODIN to stock unrooted EC05, or wait till someone roots the GB release, and flash that. Either way your photos should not be affected. Use Titanium or My Backup Root to save your programs and settings, then re install when updated.
