Assurion issues

The dreaded supply chain strikes again. I got a cracked screen, and I'm told that my exclusive red is no longer available, with them saying my only option is a black phone which itself is on backorder. I understand there are issues with getting parts, but I find it disgraceful that you get a phone in the color you want, you get Samsung care, and they tell you your only choice is either a broken phone or a phone that you didn't order. Anyone else having this issue?

Just called again, they said their new terms state they can send a phone in whatever color they have available and cannot guarantee a direct replacement for the phone I ordered. They also said they can't repair my screen where I live when there's 10 ubreakifixes here, and that I gotta dish out the $100 for a new phone.

I worked Verizon 2012-2016, even then neither Asurion nor a warranty replacement could guarantee you get the same color. Some colors were limited editions, region specific, etc. They typically only guarantee a replacement of the same model if available or an upgraded version if it's not. A deductible is also standard on basically any insurance policy for any product.

Well they are guaranteeing a downgrade, not an upgrade to the model that is unavailable. Also, the issue isn't the deductible, it's just unfortunate that I can't just have the screen replaced. Deductible for a cracked screen is less than a new phone.

Insurance companies suck period it's always the fine print that we never read. Good luck.

Well said, at least I should be thankful that I can have ANY replacement at all, but it really has turned me off from any Samsung exclusive colors. That, and the lack of matching cases for the exclusive colors

Have you tried calling uBreakiFixit to see if they can replace the screen. They are authorized Samsung repair shops. It seems like they should be able to fix it and it be covered by your insurance.

Actually I think ubreakifix is changing name to asurion, not sure. I agree, call ubreakifix direct, that's what I do.

It really sucks that you won't get the color you originally had but Asurion has always said that they can send whatever color they have available.

I always get black because I always have a case so colors don't really matter.

I know asurion sent me a $1,500 check for my S20U because they couldn't replace that phone. That's how I bought my first fold 2. Just remember they couldn't replace the phone, I had the 512 GB version, and at that time there was nothing they could bump me to, it wasn't because of color. The reason I'm posting this is you can try to get a check, you never know, just don't hold your breath.

I always get my phones on sale, and take whatever's in stock... which is usually black lol. I always put a case on my phones, almost always leather, and never use clear cases anymore because of the fingerprints and yellowing. So the color is completely irrelevant to me ;)

Why not just get the screen replaced? That way you get a new battery on your original phone too.
