Asurion Backorder

What? I'm not talking revisions, I'm talking completely different phones. Like the Aria, or the Droid Incredible.


I know what you were talking about. You said it wouldn't be smart to put too much money into one particular kind of Android phone. I say that there should be very few models on the market at once. With several differently branded Android phones on the market at once, there are way too many decisions for the customer to make so the market is hurt as a whole.

Apple has only one.....which is too little but they seem to do ok. I put forth that there should be no more than a couple Android phones at a time on any particular carrier. Believe it or not, this gives the buyer more confidence that the product will be supported in the long run and allows for more quality control.

Someone really needs to get the battery issues under control with Android phones as well as the market being a mess.
 
Apple only has 2 models of phones to sell. HTC has a lot more. Apple has far more money to put into manufacturing. Apple only updates their products once a year.

You have to keep in mind that manufacturing costs are an up-front cost that is NOT cheap. HTC can't simply say "MORE FACTORIES" and, bam, they're done. Also, the fact that they're quickly outdated means it would be detrimental to put too much money into producing any specific model.

Then maybe HTC shouldn't bite off more than they can chew...
 
Not that Apple doesn't still have this problem but somehow they managed to make about 3 million of those units for launch. What if HTC had made a fraction of that number.....wouldn't be a problem finding replacements.

It's a silly business model to try to sell something and then fall short by six months on supplying the demand for the item. With the regularity that Android phones hit the market, your phone will be outdated in that time and not many will still want it by the time you're able to produce more units. In 3 months, how many people do you think are still going to want an Evo?

The EVO did way better than any one expected... No smart phone (yet) is going to out sell the iPhone... Apple has a HUGE following and they can comfortably make and put the money behind 3, 4, 5 million phones... Apple also is a company with no debt and nearly $45 billion in cash on hand to spend. They can afford an "Ooops... We made too many." at least once.. HTC is just getting their foot well in the door... But they don't have the position that Apple has with the iPhone and Sprint even with all the EVO success is still a company BLEEDING cash and subscribers..

Basically you can't compare Apple and the iPhone to HTC and their phones... your not comparing "Apples to Apples" excuse the pun. and in 3 months the EVO will still be a top of the line smart phone.... Not THE top smart phone but it won't be trash.... As someone else stated had HTC and Sprint had a crystal ball I am sure they would have had a few million units ready to roll at launch but if they had that crystal ball why would they even mess with making phones??? They could just let other people do the work and invest in whats going to work and bet on who's going to win all the time...

Sorry, this stopped being the case when they started to take my money. I pay $7 a month so I can break, drown, lose, or destroy my phone how I see fit and still get a timely replacement for $100. If they were replacing it out of the kindness of their hearts then fine... I'll wait. But I paid them for this service now I'm demanding they follow through on their part.
 
My view on this thing further.
if Asurion cannot fullfill in a timely fashion and you are paying for the service, then they need to give a loaner and or waive the deductible.

That is how you do proper business!!!
 
Im also awaiting a EVO from asurion. and to those of you who think Asurion only sends you refurbished phones, no actually THEY can send brand new ones if you request a BRAND NEW one after you recieve a refurbished phone, you just have to tell them something is wrong with the one they sent you. and also if the phone is New or high demand it will be BRAND NEW also. I recieved my Evo on the 9th(BRAND NEW BLACK) but I wanted a white one, so Now im waiting for a white one. I called today and a lady told me she saw one ship out yesterday. so I hope Ill be recieving my white one soon.

I never recieve a refurb from asurion, every phone ive ever got from them, Ive made sure I get a brand new one.

hmmm maybe I'll get mine soon then. Sprint said if I don't have it by Friday they will "escalate it". Which I sure means delay it another 2 weeks.
 
my friend, with an HTC Incredible, was in the same boat.
after two weeks of no response from Asurion he finally called in and said he didn't care anymore and he'd just upgrade to the DroidX. within 5 minutes, no joke, he was called back. "Oh, we found it--we're shipping it out to you right now." then they hung up...
2 days passed...no tracking number...
he called them back,
"so have you shipped the phone yet?"
asurion: "we were waiting to hear from you if you wanted it overnighted"
"isn't that standard policy?"
asurion: "so you want it overnighted?"
"Good God yes you moron"

problem solved.

Asurion is the most idiotic cell replacement company.

I called today, talked to someone, they said my claim was approved on 8/14, and 7-10 business days due to the stock problems.

I asked what would happen if it took more than that and they said that they would waive the 100 dollar deductible along with give a new white evo. I'm happy :)

Hate to burst your bubble but you're going to be waiting a while I bet. As will I. Friday is D-day, at which point they said they will escalate. Whatever they do I'll let you know since you'll be in the same boat.
 
same thing happened to me a long time ago when i got the samsung instinct, i had to wait 2 weeks and there was nothing i could do short of walking in with a gun and stealing the display model. :P
 
I filed on 8/8 and received my replacement today. They continued to insist that the wait time was 7 to 10 business days after I called 20 times for status...they never changed their story. I also received a new EVO...plus I can keep all accessories and battery. I'm happy now. Extra battery and AC adapter.

Well I dropped my phone on the left edge (where the home button is) and the glass cracked like crazy all across the screen.
This was last Tuesday 8/10. Filed my claim and paid $100 deductible Wed 8/11.
It was approved that same day.

I have checked Welcome To Asurion's Online Resource Center everyday for my tracking number and today is the first day that I actually have a tracking number.

My replacement should be here tomorrow by 3pm.

Only took 7 business days :rolleyes:

Im sposed to be recieving a white one, they do have white ones, and they are all on back order, im wondering if thats why mine is taking longer is because its white.
