thoughts?

My thoughts...... why? It seems like a bit of a punishment to those to bought the original Prime. Sadly, I have to return my current Prime due to issues with WiFi, random reboots, etc.

Its 32 and 64 gb not 16 and 32. The 16 and 32 gb is for the smaller tablet they are making.

my original thoughts are, who cares, the ONLY difference here is a higher resolution display a better front facing camera, and a new back.

the screen is already gorgeous, and i personally wouldnt use the front facing camera at all, from what i hear the current model is doing alright with wifi, and ill never use gps, an extra $100 for this in my opinion seems like a waste.

+1

It's not a new replacement, it's an upgraded model with features I don't care about.

But those that do can wait 3-6 more months, deal with limited stock again for 30 days and then try to find a keyboard dock in stock. Have fun! :p

I'm kind of contemplating returning mine (which arrives tomorrow)... the higher resolution screen to me is the biggest point and worth it. It would make everything look even more ridiculously great and movies would look even better.

Just my $0.02

I'm glad I didn't get one yet, I'm in no hurry and can wait for this newer model.

i personally am going with the TF201 model, i prefer the beautiful silver back to the new one on the TF700, and i cant justify the extra 100 for minor improvements.

Well, you definitely will get many takers on the tablet if you don't plan on keeping it...

I'm still waiting for email from NowInStock.net where I'm not 30 minutes late and lose an opportunity to get one.

Amazing! They launch a product with rave reviews, then when you want to buy it-there is a waiting list over six weeks. Then you learn even before you get the product that there are issues with it. Then they introduce an "improved model" that costs $100.00 more! What kind of fools are we?
I am cancelling my order for a 64GB prime and I will wait and see what develops in the tablet market in the next couple of months. :(

I returned mine today way to many issues from wifi, poor speaker quality, real choppy when browsing. among other things. Will have to think long and hard before owning another Asus product.

I would hold off until some reviews pop up showing how well Tegra 3 handles 1920x1200 resolution.
It runs everything in the OS and high end games really smooth at 1280x800, but I don't have faith that it will do the same at the higher res as it will be almost double the graphics workload. Without a better / upgraded GPU, the higher res screen would be a negative in my book.

As it stands right now, my Prime is working great with ICS, and I wouldn't want to wait another 3-4 months for such a minor spec bump.

Yeah, seems like there should be some laws against that sort of thing...

Had the TP and the HD version been on sale at the same time, I'd fork over another $100 for it. But to wait what will likely be 6 months or more after already pining away for the TP for two months just isn't worth it.

As it is, I cancelled my standing TP order (which is backordered until end of Jan-Feb) and re-ordered it elsewhere. It has already shipped.

I guess this is what it boils down to. When I bought this, I knew better tablets would be around the corner, as that's always the case. Assumed higher res screens would be one of the first upgrades. If it takes half a year for that to happen, I'm not too broken up about it haha. Kind of assumed CES would mean more Tegra 3 tablets, and that at least a few would have higher resolution screens.

I'm still happy with how fast they got ICS on the thing, and have no complaints about performance :)
