At a crossroads, Repair?Replace?Upgrade?

So my droid took a fall and the screen cracked pretty bad, so I am faced with a series of options.

1. Buy a screen and replace it on my own.
2. Insurance will cover the phone for $89, keep the D1
3. Upgrade (available on another line) to a DINC, or DX
4. See if I can work out an upgrade and line swap from Dell(or other online places) to get a DINC for free or $49.
5. Other phones? Samsung? LG Vortex?
6. Wait it out, hope the screen stays in "1" piece untill 4g starts rolling out

I am leaning towards upgrading, but the questions is...to what? I like my D1. My mom has a DINC and it seems nice and I like not having a physical keyboard, but it is at its end of life....seems kinda pointless to buy now. Droid X? Bigger faster phone??

Any input from people would be great, epically anyone that has moved on to either of these phones and can lend some advice.

Upgrade to the droid X if you don't mind the size. I did and never looked back. I left my droid 1 for the DINC and I will say that was an upgrade in itself. Although I never cared for sense UI, personally. Unhappy with the size of the INC and the constant urge to want something new, I tried out the DX. Me getting that phone was heavenly bliss! Its big and powerful. The lady still has the INC and loves it! I will admit I did too when I had one. But for me the DX is the king. I am sure once you toy around with the DX you will better understand. There are so many features that this phone has and one of the best is the panoramic pictures its able to take. Also, it has some pretty neat widgets. Since having the DX I have never been so satisfied with a device as I have been with this one. I hope this helps and best of luck...

Insurance replacement. An upgrade is worth a lot more than $89. Your replacement droid will be as good as new and use the upgrade next year on something better.

After the 4g announcement and them saying maybe mid next year I think I have made a decision. My droid is up for NE2 in August, about the time (hopefully) some good 4g's will be out. If I fix my phone i will keep the upgrade date, and I can get on 4g soon after it comes out.

That's my plan too. I was going to steal my dad's upgrade but I think I've convinced him to get a Droid X (he wants the big screen, and so would I). I guess I'll just have to wait until August to get an HTC Mecha/Incredible HD.

I just bought a DInc for a replacement for my droid, i was thinking about the X but I HATE the "Blur-like" ROM for the x, and i read that it was really hard to switch, so i settled with the DInc. And i like sense a whole lot better
