AT&T 10 GB family plan. Who jumped to it?

Which data plan was on your old plan? 6gb?

We each had 2 gigs. I could've used a little more, but it wasn't necessary. We never went over. Just didn't stream from the cloud back then.

We also had the lowest amount of minutes. We never talk on the phone. Ever.

A few of us did some math in other threads about the new plans, it works for some, doesnt for some. Looks like your better off with the old plan since you don't need too much data.

Thank you for your help though! It was good just to write it all out to make sure I wasn't missing something.

I switched. Love this new plan. If you're willing to buy phones outright, you can save a lot of money with this plan, enjoy the benefits of unlocked phones (no locked bootloaders or AT&T bloatware), and have the freedom to leave or change your plan when you please without paying any ETFs.

For example, you can buy a 32GB unlocked HTC One M8 for $699 directly from HTC's website and take advantage of the value plan $15/line pricing.

On the other hand, if you buy a subsidized 16GB HTC One M8 from AT&T, you will pay a $36 activation/upgrade fee, $199 for the phone, and your plan will cost $600 more over two years ($25/line higher for 24 months). That all comes out to $835, or $136 more than if you had just bought the phone from HTC. In addition to paying more, you also only got 16GB instead of 32GB, a locked bootloader, AT&T bloatware, and you were stuck on the contract for two years.

If you go with something cheaper up front like a Nexus 5, which is what I did, you can save even more money over two years.

I am paying $112/month with my company discount for the 10GB Mobile Share Value plan with 2 lines. That's only $56/line for good AT&T LTE coverage, 5GB/line, and unlimited talk and text. Pretty hard to beat if you ask me.

We did. I was able to upgrade from my S4 to the S5 after I just got the S4 in August. My mom now has the S4 on Straight Talk and it's better than her crappy flip phone she had. We pay about the same for 2 lines as we did before, about $160 a month plus the price of my phone. His is from last year's Next u grade and still paying as well, or else we'd be down to that 160 with corporate discount.

I did but the very next month I started using double the data??? For a year I have been consistently averaging 1.2-1.8gobs of data and with out changing any habits I am doubling my usage. My wife is even home on maternity leave using Wi-Fi all day and she is still using way more data than she ever did with the old four gig plan. Something seems fishy to me???? Anyone else witness this phenomenon?

You're using more data?

I'm legitimately not trying to be sarcastic here. Your phone could be doing something in the background. The phone being kept at home could be occasionally losing wifi and falling back to the cell network.

Check your phones data usage in the settings. see if something weird is using a ton.

Look in the wifi settings and make sure WiFi stays on while sleeping maybe?

Anyone have a single line with the 10 gigs of data? I average around 5 to 6 gigs a month. With my corporate discount it wouldn't be that much more to go up to 10 gigs. I know, I am a data *****....

I've used 35GB before lol

After driving to TN this past weekend the girlfriend and I had FINALLY used over half of our 10gig data plan! We had LTE the entire way down. Surprised that att's coverage was so good. I expected it to be good but this was way better than expected. Made our 16 hour car ride a lot more fun! (In one sitting!)

I jumped to this in February when my daughter was ready for a smartphone. Somehow we ended up with 26 payments on each of two phones instead of the $40 per line charge, and our payments on the two phones added up to just about $40. We rarely use even half of our data, except when someone makes a mistake and streams over the network instead of wifi, and our coverage is pretty good.

The "Next" is a mixed bag, though - our phones are not going to be paid off until February 2016, and if we want to upgrade before then we will have to pay off a balance. I suppose once the balance gets low enough that's not a big deal, but for my Galaxy S4 the balance will be large for a lot longer than the LG Optimus G Pro... I will be looking more closely at those LG devices when I finally go to upgrade, unless their prices shoot up par with the Samsungs... Seeing the payments spread out like a mortgage amortization schedule makes me feel more locked into my phone even if it may or may not technically be true - used to be, after 12 or 14 months I could upgrade to most decent phones for $99 with a contract renewal.

Yes I am on that plan currently and we use 9 gb a month. Was cheaper then our previous plan.

My boyfriend and I were on the original Mobile Share Plan when we signed up back in November, but it was $170 to $180 for just 4GB of shared data, so as soon as they announced the new plans, we jumped to the 10GB one, which made our bill around $140 instead. Now our bill is $118, but that's only because I have a discount through my employer, which does help a lot.

You got pulled into NEXT when you got the phone for your daughter. If you didn't get a new phone, you would have still got the savings without having to do the installment plan, since it sounds like you were a customer before February. Though, if you did get a phone without using NEXT, you would have lost the discounts on the line and they all would have shot back up to $40 each. You can upgrade every 18 months though and the balance for the phones you have now will fall off and you'll be locked into a new installment plan again for the new ones, but you have to trade in the phone you have now and it has to be in good condition. Only problem is, if you want to get a subsidized phone (like the $99 you mentioned), you'll have to sign a two year contract again and lose the discount on the lines, because technically you're not in a contract anymore when you go with NEXT, which can be good or bad. The good is that you can leave at any time and not pay an EFT, but still have to pay the installment payments, the bad is if you want to keep the discounts, you have to stick with NEXT now.

When I switched to the 10GB plan in February, I didn't go with NEXT, because I didn't need new phones right then, but I still got $25 off each line (but was still considered to be in a 2 year contract). It saved a lot, especially going from $170 for 4GB to $140 for 10GB. Though, I got roped into NEXT in August, because I wanted to upgrade early, but keep the line discount. New customers that are signing up now for the new Mobile Share Plans, they have to use NEXT to get that savings, unless they bring their own phone with them when they make the switch to AT&T or pay full price for one up front.
