AT&T Android options?

I'm thinking about joining the Android world, but haven't really seen any good Android options available for AT&T. The Samsung Captivate looks nice, but don't want to rush into getting one if there are future Android phones coming to AT&T that might be "bigger and better". Anyone know if AT&T is getting anything great, or is the Captivate the only option?

I heard that at&t blocks the "sideloading" of 3rd party apps for their android phones... how hard is it to root their phones? or at least to get around at&t's block?

Same boat, waiting for ATT to get a good device as I love their coverage and that they're GSM. I tried TMo and had horrible coverage, have VZW through work and their coverage is ok but not until they get SVDO would I switch. Right now anxiously awaiting rumors to come true, either the Dell Thunder or Venue(what it cleared the FCC as) or the vaporware Nexus Two unsubsidized and direct from Google. I'd love a Tegra2 device but it's slim pickings on ATT.

There is a "Sideload Wonder Machine"

Rooting difficulty depends on the phone. My Aria took under an hour, from deciding I wanted to do it, to rooted, looks to be harder on my Inspire, but haven't messed with it much.

If you don't want a front camera, the Inspire is a pretty impressive phone.
