AT&T Closing out G2's?

Thanks for pointing that out. It is definitely $99 on line. I just called AT&T and I received a $50 credit. :D

The phone price dropped to $49 on line. I just called AT&T again and got another $50 credit!!
Still baffles me why this phone is so cheap!

The price kind of plays with your head. You think cheap price equals sub-par phone

Doesn't really play with my head. I was willing to pay $149 for the phone and felt that I got a great phone for that price. But I am quite happy that AT&T decided to give me $100.
After using the phone for two weeks, I can seriously say that this $49 price represents the best bargain for any phone from AT&T. And I don't know of any other phone that is currently available that I would want instead (no matter what the price is).

Best Buy sold iPhone 5c for $50 and 5S for $100, I don't think iPhone users went around talking "oh my why is this phone so cheap, is it being abandoned? Is there something wrong with it? Is Apple closing out 5C and 5S? What are we going to do now, our phone is so cheap, people will know we paid only $50 for our iPhone, our lives are ruined"

My guess is, LG is trying to maintain market share against Nexus 5 under their OWN name, since nobody refers to nexus brands as LG. Even the branding is blacked out on that device. I must admit that at $400 Nexus 5 is not a great deal at all, but who knows.

I have had my AT&T LG G2 for two days. The battery is at 50% and on the first charge. No battery problems at all. And everything else is working fine except for One Major Problem !
The Major Problem is that None of the twenty plus Tethering Apps whether WiFi or USB on the Play Store will work on this phone. I have tried them all !!!

I am on a grandfathered unlimited data plan and really need to tether my phone. I have posted to the XDA G2 Forum for help and have no replies. If anyone knows of a Tethering App that works with the AT&T LG G2 - please help. Some have gotten their Verizon LG G2 to work. So, AT&T's software has made it very difficult to tether on the LG G2. If I cannot resolve this issue in the next few days, I will be sending it back and replacing it with a Samsung S4 which does work.

Other than the Tethering Issue, I really like the phone. And is worth the $49.

You started a whole other thread on this issue a few days ago.
There's likely NO app that will work. And if there is, you'll likely have to root your phone.
If this is such a dealbreaker for you, not being able to steal tethering, you should just send it back today. Just because people have not given you the answer you want to hear does not mean they are not trying to help you.

There is a guy that made a fix for the tethering thing, he has a website called 'scottsroms'

I don't use tethering do I don't bother with it, but, basically he just redirects the AT&T check on tethering to his domain instead and says 'yes'.

Search XDA and you should be able to find it. Sorry I can't offer more info, it's late, i'm tired, with a lil effort you will find it.

Just get the $50 dollar G2, sell it, buy a LG Nexus, and tether your brain out. That's what I was planning to do, but for some odd reason I like the general ergonomics of the phone. It's got a big enough screen and enough resolution to make it a winner in my book! But not too big that it isn't comfortable in my hand or pocket.

Until you use one you'll never appreciate what resolution does.

That would be downgrading but it depends on what works for them. If tether is a priority then it might be worth it but I really don't see myself ever be able to go down to Nexus 5 after I got so used to this awesome battery, knock on, customized system buttons (notification dropdown from button ftw) and qslide.

Although I would love to hear a long time g2 users story after they switch to N5, maybe there are things we don't know.

Ah, what is this? "notification dropdown from button"

Sorry, I really don't know what it's called, so I gave it a name "dropdown from button on the bottom". It's like fruit on the buttom, just as sweet!
Let me get a screenshot.

Since it is a huge screen, it would make it very awkward to slide from top all the time, and I use my notification bar a lot, so I just set this button to be my dropdown bar, amazing, and whenever I use my wife's phone I look for this button, then I keep hitting menu button on her LG by mistake.

Great, I saw where you can add them, but can't remember, any hints? And I wish you could put the notification bar away with a tap.

Yes, you can. With same button up and down.

Settings, Display, Front Touch Buttons, adjust here.

Cool, it makes QSlide apps more useful too! I did see that screen, but didn't go far enough. I didn't realize that you swapout rows, I was trying to add individual ones. Now I'm almost great to go. My Bluetooth headset has the profile to hear apps, and I have the phones settings set at max, but still it doesn't read out street names using the BT. Smartphones are known to be lacking speakerphone volume, but that is this phone's week point. It does read out speakerphone street names though.

Looks like this phone has a great set of features, especially for my type of use.

I agree the g2 is available in my area St Louis too but from what I read there not fling off the shelf like LG hoped being a LG pro owner I love my phone seam like unless your Apple are Samsung the other brands will not move unless there priced under $100 are less and that's the cold hard fact

I don't think G2 is too cheap, I think all other phones are overpriced (if you are on contract)
Nobody should have to pay more than $50 for a phone on a contract. Including iphones and all other stuff. I see people pay $300 for Note 3 on Contract, can you believe that? They must be insane.
