AT&T, do you have to change / upgrade you plan to get 5G service?

It's my understanding that 5G isn't automatically added if you have an older service plan on AT&T, it appears you have to upgrade your plan to get 5G service. :(

Not necessarily. I have a 45 GB plan and, after discussing with AT&T several different times, they confirmed that 5G is included.

Unfortunately... AT&T is slow to enable 5G on unlocked phones though. SMH

You have to get a 5g plan. It is not worth the extra money in my area for the limited 5g coverage.

if the 5G isnt working on your phone and it still show 5GE you need to call tech support and they need to add the new IMEI number to your plan then its just a flip of the switch for them

Did they mention what would be displayed on the icon once 5g is enabled? Will it just show LTE+?

Look at your plan, it tells you have LTE or 5G access.

it will depend on the plan. for example, the unlimited plan (cheapest one) I am on does not have 5g access. I would have to upgrade.

I had to update my plan, which actually seemed to help reduce my bill. I am literally in the process to have it switched over to 5G Elite plan as I am typing this.
