So i rooted my GS3 AT&T i747 (might be wrong number) but i got CWMv5 on it and i had gooManager got cm10.1 and its gapps for it. I tried to flash rom and install cm10.1 but it failed and i tried 3 different downloads that were supposed to be for my phone. i even went as far to install an AOPK (?) ROM and that failed. Each time it says failed assert status 7... i even disabled assert value on my phone and it still said it. I dont know what im doing wrong but not that i did all that my phone is stock rooted and i cant get on google play store. i just want to get cm or some other rom on it with the correct gapps. If you can help please reply... Thanks in advance

Re: Galaxy S3 Flashing ROM .. HELP

The status 7 error is script related. Either something isn't right in the updater-script in the ROM zip file or your custom recovery ( CWM 5 ) isn't communicating correctly. I'm sure its a simple fix, I've seen it plenty times before myself on other devices. Unfortunately I'm not in the loop on the S3 to help you further.

Hang tight, we have plenty of helpful folks in here.

I had trouble installing until I updated my CWM to version 6 (forget the rest of the digits). Once that was updated I had no trouble.

Are you downloading the ROMs from the internet and then moving them to your storage (either from computer to sd card, directly from the S3 to storage, etc.)? I had a ton of problems trying to install ROMs that I was downloading because the recovery program would abort the installation immediately. What I ended up doing was getting the goomanager from the app store, which also installs TWRP. I know you said you had goomanager and CWM, so if you still have both, before you do anything else, go into goomanager and click Flash ROMs. It will ask you something about if you have a recovery installed. Click no, find one for me, which will flash the TWRP recovery. Boot into recovery and make a backup. After that is done, reboot and go back into goomanager and click on browse compatible ROMs, and download one of the ROMs from that section (making sure to tick the box for gapps if it pops up asking). Then flash the ROM from there, and goomanager/TWRP should walk you through the rest of the process. Thats the only way I could get mine to flash a custom ROM. Good luck!
