AT&T HTC One: KitKat 4.4.2 Discussion Thread, Bugs, Features.

Re: AT&T HTC One KitKat 4.4.2 : Discussion Thread, Bugs, Features.

Just updated my phone. Everything is great, but hell, I finally was able to see this did a major blow to my battery life. Persistent running services and tips (turns these off!) :
-Video highlights (ApiService)
-Google Services (Search service)
- BROWSER BAR (ToolbarSercice)
- Isis Wallet
- Music (MediaPlaybackService)
- Battery saver Location Mode is recommended for location services.
Bluetooth Share (Map and Opp services)
*So far these were the biggest battery drainers.

I un-installed Beats Music too and Isis until I get a card.
you can not uninstall the apps you said only disable same with the browser toolbar but I would not do that because it is more part of the HTCs OS now I tried doing that. all you need do do with the browser tool bar is to turn it off int he setting so you it will not be used.

I too am having problems with TV app: unable to retrieve, some data downloaded invalid...

UPDATE: After many tries, I was able to complete the setup successfully and use the TV app. Unfortunately I have no idea what made the difference.

I usually use widget locker lock screen, after update figured I'd use the normal lock screen to check it out. However, there doesn't seem to be a swipe right for camera option on the Android 4.4.2 lock screen, at least I can't get it to work. Can anyone else?

Well idk if this is KitKat specific, but has anyone tried using the HTC Media Link HD with KitKat? I've just bought one after updating to KitKat, but couldn't set it up; stuck on configuration page and comes up with error. I think I've isolated it down to being KitKat incompatibility with the old firmware on Media Link. Thanks.

I have noticed that since the update Google location reporting is much more accurate. Battery life seems better, too.

Humm, battery life when kaput after the update. Some said to wait a couple cycles (the power mode setting was doing nothing)of charging & draining for the battery to stabilize. So I when back and to use an old battery saver app to try compensating. Easy battery saver does the trick using the advance mode, after a complete charging cycle the one have this morning a 94% since last night at 1900hr. Do not unplug your charger when the led turns to green, wait until battery saver indicates that is completedly charge.

My battery did the same exact thing. It was like horrible. Even after using a new battery saver app. Before the update, my phone lasted 10hrs or less, then after the new battery saver app was installed, I stretched it to like two days. Then I updated, and it was set to die in less than four hours on full charge! I did notice, after some good tweaking of settings, the death of the battery became slower and slower. I FINALLY was able to set it back right after a couple of days. I actually have uninstalled the battery saver as of today, as it's not needed anymore and it uses a good amount of battery just to save what I already can. My phone is still doing great this morning.

Hey everyone, since updating to 4.4.2, I now have issues when swiping to open apps from the lock screen. It mostly happens with Textra, but sometimes chrome as well. I will swipe up from lock and instead of going to the app, it just goes to my home screen. Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: AT&T HTC One KitKat 4.4.2 : Discussion Thread, Bugs, Features.

I updated to 4.4.2 and the battery life seems to be getting stable now after few charging cycles. But looks like the streaming media player app is gone. when connected to media link hd, i can only mirror the screen even when playing a local video instead of streaming it. so the screen is always on and getting hot very soon. the battery drains as well. i don't why this app was removed.
can someone tell me if I can reinstall this app? or if you haven't updated, can you pls extract the app and post it if it is there in 4.3?

Thanks
Ganesh.

Re: AT&T HTC One KitKat 4.4.2 : Discussion Thread, Bugs, Features.

I haven't had any issues with the update. My battery seems the same, if not better. However, how my battery is used seems to be different. Before the update, my battery drain as reported by the GSam Battery Monitor, it was mostly via apps which would be 70%+ and the rest would be screen and to a lesser extent the radio. Now, my battery drain is split between screen and app. Also, within the App usage, The Kernal (Android OS) is now the biggest drainer of the battery when it used to be minuscule. I'm not too concerned about this though since my battery seems to have the same life.

EDIT: I am listening to iheartradio right now for the first time since the update and my battery is draining very fast, so I may need to look into this some more.

Have Swiftkey keyboard installed. Since update, when messaging with phone in the horizontal position the send button is missing. Stock HTC keyboard is OK. Tried the Swipe keyboard app and it is the same way, missing the send button. Also running TSF shell sometimes when switching between apps and Home screen the wall paper doesn't render correctly usually enlarged graphics or artifacts in upper left corner. Battery seems about normal, When using phone and dialing a number phone defaults to speaker On, don't remember that. Sure wish I could rollback to previous OS and Software. Would a factory reset do that?

No it won't roll back but, it would get rid of any possible glitches you may have.

Chomp and default messaging app are horribly slow now. Maybe 10 seconds to show my messages. Beautiful Widgets had also been negatively affected . Buttery smooth before update.

Also my battery is significantly worse.

Anyone else having a problem when dialing or answering calls? Almost every time I use it, the speakerphone turns on. It can be a big surprise.
