AT&T LG G3 update (2/10/15) LOLLIPOP!

Re: AT&T LG G3 update (2/10/15) LOLLIPOP!

The bottom line is that the update may or may not go smoothly for you. You greatly increase your chances of it working out well if you do the factory reset. Now they really need to work on the whole backup process so doing the reset is not such a PITA. And if you say that is not possible than I say android for all its advantages has a major problem. An operating system which cannot be fully backed up in this day and age will continue to lose market share to that dam vanilla thing I will not name.

IPhones can and are backed up as well. Android isn't alone in this. #itunes If this many people are the only one having problems here then considering that most don't go in forums to say things are so great, I think we have a winner here. Lollipop is here to stay.

I previously rooted via towelroot and my phone won't allow me to update. How do I unroot?

Also, if I do unroot and get the OTA update, will all the bloatware that I carefully removed be back on my phone?

Did everyone retain the circle clock on the lock screen for time after updating? Or did anyone get the smaller clock on the lock screen (same size as their notification box almost)?

The reason I ask cause mine switches back and forth when there's notification or none. So circle clock first then if there's a notification, it shrinks. This all happened after I did a factory reset, prior to that lollipop just made my clock smaller and got rid of the circle clock.

Might as well add my experience to the list of grievances. I updated on the 12th and immediately noticed terrible network coverage. In my building I used to get 3 bars of LTE at my desk, now I had 1-2 bars of E or even G (whatever the hell that is??). I forced the phone back to KK using the method on XDA and everything seemed back to normal. Yesterday the damn phone upgraded to LP without my permissions, but it seems like it might be a better install this time. I'll know for certain on Monday when I'm back at the office. Fingers crossed.

Anybody else notice a huge loss of signal strength? Could be a leading cause of mysterious battery drain.

UPDATE: A wipe and re-install fixed the low signal strength issue.

I think you are missing my point. iPhones are able to be backed up completely. It is a one touch operation to back everything from app data, photos, app positioning, etc. And then when something goes wrong or a new operating system is introduced you simply restore from the backup. New operating system installations automatically do what android calls "factory reset" because as others have stated that is simply the best way to ensure a clean install and less glitches and problems moving forward. It is the thing I miss most about my iPhone. Hopefully I have done my last reset for a while.

Probably repeating myself I, but I'm just continually pleased with how much better battery life is since the update. Had to spend a little over 7 hours in the emergency room last night and so was using my phone pretty heavily on a data connection to kill time. By the time I walked out of there the phone had only used up 18%. Beyond happy with this. This is the one major problem that I hoped would be addressed and it certainly seems to have been in my case.

Been a few days now and after going through the settings, playing around a bit, all is pretty good.
Never did get the SD card issue fixed. It's fine till I add an app to it - then the "dismount" bug appears.

Found a new one...... bug, that is, music style.

Taking a stroll, headphones in, get a call, and all that shows up on the lockscreen is the music player controls.
I have to unlock my device to answer a call. Figure there has to be something I have overlooked or set incorrectly.
Suggestions are welcome.

Well mine has gone down hill..

Lock screen notification doesn't work properly, battery is overheating (spiked 118 dg.) runs 98 on average no Heavy gaming screen brightness 70%... Lagging on many applications.... Solution..
Paying off remaining balance on next plan and getting a new phone not a lg g3 for sure

I'm in the same boat. I unrooted and factory re-set the phone. Two different root checkers say I am not rooted. However, I get a message that I cannot update because a root is detected!!! Have tried 3 times now.

I had the same problem. You have to flash the stock firmware. You can get the instructions and the files from g3root.com just to a Google search for "LG G3 factory firmware" and it should be one of the top links.

Make sure you have winzip. The cracked LG flash tool and the firmware file are both zipped.

But if you follow the directions step by step as you're going it will take about an hour or two from start to finish download time included

Hope this helps :)
