AT&T LG G3 update (2/10/15) LOLLIPOP!

Same for Email client no LED on silent or on priority only? What am I missing here? LED is extremely useful for people that like their phone on silent.

PITA. :-X
I just finished a conference call, set my phone down and heard a weird noise a few minutes later. AT&T decided to force update my device at 9:00 AM in the morning during my work-day. Sooooo nice of them. Took about 20 minutes or so. The battery was warm, not hot.
So far everything seems paused. You perform an action, it pauses, then executes. I'll see how it goes. I'll update on my findings and experiences later.....

Update :-\

Ughs:
  • Upgrade unmounted SD card
  • App selection triggers puase then executes
  • Had to move a number of apps back to the SD card
  • SD card keeps unmounting then mounting - randomly
  • Everytime I unlock the phone, the system is remounting the SD card and posts an on-screen alert. Does this mean it is unmounting it every time I lock the screen?
  • Keyboard reverted to LG - had to change back
  • Phone will randomly lockup when moving between homescreens - requires battery pull
  • Apps randomly show up as little green robots - then the SD card unmounts
  • SMS messages (using Google Messenger) being received at destination up to 40 minutes later .... multiple recipients and messages

Wows:
  • AT&T crapware remaned disabled
  • In Developer Options if you turn off animations - really improves speed
  • Missing two apps (my list is shorter) and haven't identified them yet

Biggest issue so far has been the SD card problem. Trying to avoid a factory reset....
Thankfully my other phone is my primary work device else I would be really screwed.
More to come.....

x2 on unmounting SD card. Solutions yet? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

So far, two things that bugs me. 1st is the recent view apps. Its a page style now which i dislike. Takes longer to find the correct one. The old tile format was alot better, more efficient. 2nd. I used to be able to say "OK, Google" on the homescreen without punching any buttons. Now i have to press the "Ok, Google" bar and then speak. Is there a way where i dont have to press anything?
In Google Search settings you have to check the ok Google for all pages, something like that. But yes I miss the recent views of kit Kat as well. Rolodex style is weak.

My SD card keeps unmounting. I have to go into storage settings and click mount. Anyone having this issue?

And my app icons keep changing to those generic android icons rather than the apps icon and back again upon reboot.

Suggestions? Especially on SD issue.

I too am experiencing this problem since the update that occurred overnight.

I know it doesn't help, but I haven' t had this problem with my SD or my girlfriend's since the update. It may have something to do with the card or whatever, I don't know. But has anyone tried reformatting the card? After backing all your info up of course...

Do Not Disturb/Priority Only sucks.

I clear the Battery full notification and it keeps coming back.

Guys its an absolute must to factory reset your device from 4.4 to 5. Anyone who thinks they don't have to is going to have little problems here and there. I was lazy and did it first time and it was just ok, after the factory reset I'm absolutely floored how great this ROM is. Battery life, smoothness and overall feel from this update took this device to the next level.

Pretty much THIS ^

I've been looking for a way around that too but no luck, I hate to unlock the phone just to change it.

As other have mentioned, my phone updated itself overnight. So far over a day of use, battery usage does show a little more but not that much.

Some of my Tasker stuff have been disabled though, particularly Media Utilities having problems with Spotify, and also Bluetooth has been picky on connecting to my car audio, but once it's connected there's no audio lag. I don't get this priority thing, convoluted if you ask me.

I'm now using an app called Notification Toggle. And I just turned on Bluetooth and sound/vibrate. Works with lollipop so it's good.

Strange that I didn't receive the update yet. I checked for updates and it said none are available. I have att and I'm in NJ.

Not necessarily. I did an in place upgrade yesterday morning and all I did when it finished was update Google Play Services, shut down, battery pull and reboot. Nary a hiccup since, and I know I'm not the only one.

How do I get do not disturb to work and now my fiancees phone the alarm never went off cause it was on silent and it has always went off like that

Priority mode must be enabled. Go to settings then sound. Under DND you'll find priority mode.

Update #2 - after 24 hours or so ...

UGH
  • App selection pause has improved - hope it continues to improve
  • SMS messages via Messenger - still seeing occassional messages being delayed
  • Worked on the SD card issue a lot. What I found - if I migrate an app to the SD card, various problems start poppng up:
  • - SD card keeps unmounting then mounting - randomly
  • - Every time I unlock the phone, the system is remounting the SD card and posts an on-screen alert.
  • -- Does this mean it is unmounting it every time I lock the screen?
  • - Phone will randomly lockup when moving between homescreens - requires battery pull
  • If I use the SD card for storage only (photos, songs, videos, etc.) the phone operates fine with non of the "randon" issues. If I migrate an app to the SD card, the issues resurface. This looks to be an LG G3 issue, not an Android OS issue.

WOW
  • Phone is smoother
  • The number of apps that will not work quite right with Lollipop has been few. Most work quite well.
  • The battery life has not degraded at all as far as I can tell at this time.

So far as time has gone by, the device has smoothed out and things have gradually improved. It would have been better if either Google, LG, or AT&T had communicated this out ahead of time. The forced upgrade by AT&T was most unwelcome to me especially in the middle of a working day.

So far, the SD card has been the single biggest issue.
I'll post a further update with any additional changes and findings.

Bunch of whiners here, get a grip children.
Love for you to say that to my face.
When I purchase a phone outright for over 500 bucks, it is MINE. And no company should have the right to change the software without my approval. Even Microsoft does not do that.
And yes, my phone forced updated and it is having problems.
So, mind your own business...

If you been with Android or here in these forums long enough, you would know this to be true! I've said this so much throughout my time here in these forums that is should be common knowledge by now.

I'm not sure if everyone here has ever had experience with Windows OS but if you have I'm sure you all can recall whenever you'd have to do an upgrade, it would be wise to do a clean install rather than an upgrade. Too many bugs and problems just upgrading the OS. A clean install (complete fresh install rather than just 'upgrading' the OS) would be the equivalent of a factory reset on Android. My understanding is that when you upgrade, some system files from the previous OS stay behind and can cause problems with the OS such as corruptions and malfunctions. It would be in everyones best interest to do this even if you don't have problems so that your system runs at optimal performance.

gotta tell you guys,i hate lollipop, quiet time is gone,my notifications are all out of whack.i want kit kat back
