AT&T LG V20 October 2017 software update fails

My AT&T LG v20 won't complete the October 2017 software update. I have done a factory reset. It downloads the update, reboots and fails with a "software unavailable - contact LG service" error. This has happened with four attempts. Any ideas how to fix this?

Go (with the phone) to your nearest AT&T corporate (not affiliate) store. Ask where the local Device Support Center is (it may even be in that store). Go there and ask if they could please flash the October 2017 update, as it keeps failing. If it fails for them too, they'll probably know what you should do. (I had one of my phones replaced by them - out of warranty - because of that. I never found out what the problem was.)
