AT&T Messages App / LED Indicator / KitKat

I have a Note 2 on AT&T running KitKat. Since the KitKat update it appears that I can have only one messaging client enabled at a time. In addition, the AT&T Messages app tells me that unless it is the sole messaging client I won't be able to get my voice messages.

I can live with that, but (at least since KitKat) incoming voice and text messages don't cause the LED indicator to light or blink if AT&T Messages is the client. As a result, it sometimes takes me several hours before I realize I've received a voicemail or text if I'm not actively using the phone.

Does anyone have a solution or workaround? Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem with the Light Flow app, which is a pretty cool LED management app. I can't post links yet, but search for it in the Play Store.
