How did you try unrooting?

Re: updates while being rooted-please help

i went into superuser and did a full unroot then i cleared phones cache

i also re-rooted when it wouldnt let me do the update

Do you have a custom recovery installed?

Re: updates while being rooted-please help

i dont think so? all i did was root and freeze apps. i didnt do anything else with root

The only reason I ask is many times people who show a root method often include a custom recovery, usually for a couple reasons. 1. It may be required for the rooting process, and 2. Custom recoveries offer more options for your device.

Could you link to the method you used?

Try rebooting into recovery. Power off. Then hold volume up, home and power until you see the first Samsung logo and release. Take a photo with another device, and post it please.

That's weird you may need to reflash stock rom in order to accept an OTA.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using AC Forums mobile app

Since you have it rooted, why don't you just ROM the thing ? Instead of freezing carrier bloat, you can eliminate it. You can also get rid of TW and be running KitKat now, instead of waiting. Some ROMs even have OTA updates. I am using ViperOne. Of course, since I wouldn't get caught dead with a SameDung phone, you'll have to do some digging around on XDA developers and find the best one for you. But my experience dictates that most custom ROMs are better than stock.
