Hey all I have a Google branded N5 and I got the AT&T N6 as a gift is there any big differences between Google N6 and AT&T?

I think the att version is locked to att but not positive. I use the GPe on att. I do not think there are any differences on how the device works. Some say att controls the updates versus Google but not positive that this is true. Enjoy your N6!

AT&T N6 is sim-locked (first Nexus device ever to suffer that indignity), has AT&T's startup jingle, and the AT&T logo appears on the boot screen and is also imprinted on the back of the device.

Does anyone know about the updates do I still get them by google or AT&T?

Not sure if it is clear yet. Some people using N6 sourced from Moto directly have not received the 5.01 update like myself. Others claim they have received it so unclear to me. I have not seen anything official anyplace as yet. Others resorted to a work around described in another post and got the update, not totally clear to me that anything is proved by that operation but does seem to suggest ATT could be holding up the update. Don't worry about the AT&T version being SIM locked. I paid $24 to cell unlocked and received an unlock code in a day. I now have my Verizon SIM in it.

Worst thing about the AT&T model is the horridly loud startup sound and splash screen.

I'm not too worried about the Sim lock. I'm more worried about where the updates come from. And yes the start up sound is just too much.
