AT&T Pie Update now available!

I would be surprised if it were a staged rollout. <snip>
If you've never had issues getting updates and up to february patch, I guess hang tight ;)
I've never had any problems getting releases "out the door".. so it's not impossible to believe that it's a matter of my own impatience.

It's interesting to note that I did try the Google Services Framework data-clear/retry method without success, too. That surprised me, since it reportedly works around that forced "time out" you mentioned.

Oh well. What's "yet more waiting," right? ;)

Yeah, at least you know it's finally arrived. It was brutal the slow download last night lol.

So far besides a glitch or two (Bixby voice for me) just having fun like its a new toy. We'll see how the UI really wears on ya after a few days but imo runs smooth.

I usually do full erases when there is a next level OS update but with this phone I didn't with Oreo and Pie is running so well I'll just wait until I have no choice.

I haven't had a chance to actually delve into Pie yet, but I'm not a fan of it's look. Too iPhoney, imo. KitKat and and Oreo are probably my 2 favorites strictly in terms of look and layout.

Can anyone using the Samsung messaging app confirm that we can no long customize the appearance? ie, background image and bubble color/shape. Plus, i'm seeing my responses to others pop up as notifications. Very weird.

I guess I can confirm. Settings are very basic so can't see any option and checking inidividual conversations don't see any option to customize. As basic an app as you get.

Color me impatient.. I backed up my phone and then Factory Reset the thing. Signed back into the phone, checked for updates and there it is. :)

Anyone know where the signal strength bars ran off to?

Re: AT&T Pie Update now available!

I've got nothing. Just the time and battery indicator. No carrier name, no signal indicator.

My early impressions of Pie are not favorable so far. Feeling like I got a pie to face. Already counting down the days until Q.

Hi. Samsung Pay on Pie, cannot access favorite cards from Home anymore by swiping up. Checked settings, it is turned on. Only way to do this now is from the locked screen while locked and not from Home while unlocked.

Am I missing something? Thanks!

Sadly, I suspect that you're going to be left wanting since the Note 8 isn't likely to get Android Q from Samsung. :(

You could consider using Samsung Smart Switch to grab a backup of your phone and then Factory Reset it.. then use Smart Switch to being back your content. A reset might correct whatever is blocking the UI from showing those items. I could be wrong, of course.

Restart was the first thing I tried. Lol.

I just did a backup on my phone a few days ago. I never realized I could reset it back to the previous OS. I'm gonna have to give that a shot. Pie might have some good functionality to it, but it is super ugly to look at.

Interesting. If you look at my older posts in this thread from the pic of my downloading Pie to showing the speedtest after Pie and with 5GE, my screen is different after Pie. My clock now on the left side with battery indicator and sig strength shifted to the right with Pie.

Going back to Oreo?

Backing up the phone I don't believe means backing and being able to downlevel the OS... at least with using any backup method that came preloaded. You'd have to use Odin and reimage the phone. Make sure you have your backup on SD though before you do that.

If you downlevel your OS, not sure if it won't force the update on you eventually even while you are sleeping unless you root your phone and have some app to stop it. Also downleveling you will no longer get monthly security patches/updates.

The clock shifted with mine too, but I quickly came across a setting to send it back to the right side. Don't ask me what I did to make it happen though...I was just aimlessly tapping around various settings to check out the new layout.

Yeah, I misinterpreted what you were originally saying. I've re-read it now and understand what you're suggesting. Back up, factory reset (to see if the signal indicator shows up in Pie), reload back up from SS. I'll give it a go. Thanks.

Tried it. Nope.

Please tell me Pie hasn't taken away the ability to schedule a text. I use that all the time. Where did it go?!
