AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

I called at&t 3 separate times to ensure that any phone on the list got $1000. All 3 times said yes. Then when I took my trade to at&t store they assured me as well.

I'm still scared they're gonna pull some shenanigans.

Well I'm a lawyer and the three of us can be the plaintiiffs if they screw us.

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

Well, this is a total scam people. We've been duped.

Says my screen is cracked/broken. Wasn't when I sent it, in fact the device was flawless. And of course we are now past the 14 day return policy, so AT&T basically just !@?!ed me up the you know what. I am of course going to call.... but this is some shady ****.

It says cracked/damaged so that might include others types of damage besides broken. Was anything at all wrong like dead pixels or screen burn-in?

May have had a slight burn in at the bottom now that you mention it. You think that could be why??

Did you use that flimsy bubble envelope that they sent in the mail?? Seriously, I expected a BOX, not an envelope. It's got less protection than a cheap phone case. Anyone use it and expect the phone not to be cracked and risk losing their trade-in deal...

Anyways, I just shipped mine. Took TMavC5's advice and used the original box it came in. Put it in my original Note 8 box and some bubble wrap from work and sent it away. Really enjoyed that phone... A good phone for three years until the end.box.jpg

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

I sent it in the bubble envelope, with a case on it for added protection.

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

That'll do it.

It shouldn't. These are trade in phones. They should be lax. They aren't worth anything and to jam someone over something minor if it was indeed minor is wrong. The value only needed to be 60 and they lowered it to 35. So for 25 dollars he lost 1000 in credits. Let us know how you do. I'm not confident you'll get very far but good luck.

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

Besides my 2 ultra notes I traded in iPhone 7s on i did a deal on an iPhone for my mother. Trade in on iPhone 6s was 300 towards 700 iPhone 11. Just got trade in report and says cracked screen. It wasn't. My mom double bubble wrapped it but did use envelope. Other problem was it was iPhone 6 plus so wouldn't of worked anyways but said cracked screen and it definitely wasn't.
Thats why I took both iPhone 7a in person to att to trade in. They now need to ship them to see how this plays out.

Anybody actually trade in a phone on note 20 and get credits already started??

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

It's not that I don't disagree with you. It's just you know how trade-ins work... especially seen it in these forums with previous gens... if the phone isn't pristine... it's gonna get rejected. If you know it had a burn or crack or even the frame has a dent, they will toss it back.

Wow they lowered it to 35 I didn't know. Did they expand the list of phones you could trade in to include older phones like iPhone 6s?? Too bad the cutoff was iPhone 7 cause I have a couple of 6s' I could have unloaded on them lol.

A Note8 is not "worth nothing" IMO... you can get more than $200 on Swappa. Burn on a screen... not so much.

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

Not sure you now that I reread it seems that wrong model was entered as trade?

I don't think they are stressing the model... OP must have choose TBD when entering what phone he'd be turning in... but a Note 8 is on the list. I think the ding comes from the damage.

I wonder if the vendor AT&T is using is the company that actually resells the trade ins and are looking to get the most out if this they can.

That's a mistake by att. There was no place to pick a trade in model. The instructions were clear that you could trade in any device on the list.

Maybe. But ATT should be crystal clear that if they want impeccable phones they should say it. I read the requirements over and over and they are intentionally vague which seems to give them cover in situations like these. But these are consumers and offering 1000 in bill credits and then jamming someone on a little burn in which frankly is normal on many older phones wreaks of bait and switch.

So when they drop the price you automatically lose all of the bill credits?

re: AT&T Return Trade-In Thread.

Apparently a lot of other people on reddit also getting the Wrong Model message and said it should be okay as long as the value said $0. If it said other values then it's an issue.

The rules require to have a trade in of at least 60 so yes by dropping him from 60 to 35 the trade in wont qualify. At a minimum ATT should allow you to send in a different phone or something.

Device condition

To receive the most value for your eligible device, your device must:

  • Power on and off
  • Have an intact screen that functions correctly and is free of any chips
  • Be free of breaks or cracks in the housing, keypad, hinge, or battery door
  • Have any activation lock, such as Find My iPhone, disabled
Final trade-in eligibility is subject to device inspection.

Guess "functions correctly" is subjective with burns on screen eh?
