AT&T S6 Edge

I am on a 5.0.2 lollipop rooted s6 edge (locked boot loader since it's an att device).

When 6.0M comes out and att will roll it out, would there be a way to keep the root and move to marshmallow?

It's really hard to tell with AT&T and Verizon. You just have to wait and see if they will come up with one.

I can't remember if t-mobile locks their boot loaders. Gotta check up on that.

I have the Sprint variant and it has a way to unlock the bootloader, which is what I've done.
