AT&T SIM Issues

Don't do what I did: I used a nail sander from my wife's nail care kit to sand the contacts on the SIM card, not the watch. The design of the SIM card holder is flawed. The place where the card and watch contact pins meet has very little pressure to make sure they stay firmly contacted.

Ok, a nail sander. Got it :) Think I'll just give it a wipe or 2, blow some low pressure air and see how long it lasts. Thanks.

Cleaned the SIM this morning. Tracked a 6.5 mile run in the rain this afternoon. So far so good.

Well, after almost 4 months of use, I now get the intermittent SIM card error on my ATT Urbane 2nd Ed. Any of you still having issues with this?

I'm going to try and open and re seat the Sim.

I have been getting the SIM error way to regularly. Nearly every time I go for a run, which is the only time I enable cellular. I am using truphone SIM. I plan to try try cleaning the contacts and reseating it with possibly a little double sided tape to keep it in place and add a little thickness to ensure good contact. I will update if this seems to help or not.

Here is my attempt at a fix. I put a small thin sticker around the holder to tighten the lower portion, though I don't think that is where the issue is. I suspect it is the other part that has nothing to hold it tight to the contacts. There is a little piece of rubber in the cover to try to hold it down. I added three layers of sticker to the exposed portion of my SIM and hoping that helps. I also wonder if when you tighten the back that the SIM gets slid out a little bit by the rubber piece because it isn't tight enough in the holder. Anyway I will see how this does and will definitely post back if it doesn't help and I need to try something else. If I leave cellular on and don't have any error for two weeks I am going to consider it fixed.

No SIM errors. My guess is that on some units the little pad stuck on the backing isn't quite enough to hold the SIM down. So put a little extra thickness (very little) on the exposed part of the SIM or on the pad.

It takes some time. Just got my second SIM error couple months after last one. It is definitely a design problem.

Just curious, but is anyone using trimmed mini/micro sims instead of actual nano sims? Maybe the extra thickness could fix the problem?

That's a great idea. It definitely wouldn't have any trouble fitting in. I have a feeling it would help. I only put three layers of a very thin stickers and feel like I might not have needed that much.
