AT&T: still trying to kill their Android business

I just left AT&T for Verizon and I'm in the last 2-days in the 30-day decision process. Think you just helped me make it. :-) I LOVE my new Fascinate.

Oh yea, THANKS!

I'm glad I was able to save one person from AT&T. :-)

Umm... if this is to kill the android buisness,. then it would only pertain to android phones. this also applies to their blackberries, windows mobile phones, and palm phones.

All carriers are moving to this territory so please dont get all high strung about it. I am not defending or bashing anyone or AT&T. But what do you think is going to happen when verizon sings this same song?
remember, they were the first to raise their early termination fee to the state it is at. AT&T just followed suit. I can promise you that verizon will follow the same

Thanks much.

I'd been with WM/AT&T for around 10-years, before PDA's and phones were merged. My AT&T phone was a Tilt 2 and I liked it until the last ROM update.

Really LOVE the Fascinate. It's smooth and easy to use. I didn't think I'd get used to not having a "real" keyboard but it took less than a day.

Verizon's service is great too, both customer service and phone service. I think the Fascinate is the best phone I've ever had and I've upgraded about ever 6-12 mos for years... Guess I'll have to keep this one a while. 5 family phones but no staggered upgrades...

Not really to kill android, despite the thread title, more like kissing Apples, uh, hindend. You can plainly see that they jacked early upgrade rates up on everything except the iPhones. Take what you will from that.

I would hardly consider the tone of my first post "high strung". Also, this isn't ETF's. I just don't think it's cool that they did it the way they did. Raise the rates, fine, but for all devices. This just shows me that AT&T is a lapdog of Apple and when told to jump, they say , "How high, Mr. Jobs? "

From what i have heard, they did this ti match what the iphones early upgrade cost was. Not to kill anything else.

I also wasnt trying to imply that you were being high strung in your first post. Just prempting anyone else from going that route. So my apologies if you took it that way

Then forgive me for, perhaps, a slight overreaction to a mis-read.

From the way I read that article, though, they were giving iPhone upgrades at the old $75 rate or even for free in some cases. Truthfully, this has no bearing on me now, as I'm with Sprint. I just want people to be aware of AT&T's sleight-of-hand trickery.

Yea, i got a buddy that works fir att, they have always done the 200 early upgrade pricing on iphones, and have never given them out for free. They would loose their jobs.

But im with you as it doesnt concern me either, as i am also with sprint on the evo
