The device will be an ?open? device where we will encourage hack-ability.
The only closed thing about this device is the shell that it comes in, but that?s just a few screws really.
We also encouraging hack-ability, by running the same core hardware as the Nexus Q we expect it to develop the same functionality due to the fantastic developers in the android community. In the meantime we plan to develop CyanogenMod for the device.
Dashboard UI
We will be developing a "dashboard" for your device bringing you all the information you want when you want it. More information to come as it develops.
Media
With the recent announcement of XBMC for Android we will also be working to get this up and running on our hardware perfectly allowing you to have a media player connected to your TVcontrollable from your phone/tablet with The Official XBMC Remote.
TV
Everyone wants to be able to watch thier favorite TV Shows when they want, Not when your content provider says you have to, becasue we are running Android if your provider has an application for it you can watch it.

With the access to Google's Play store, you will be able to play your favorite classic video games on the big screen using OnLive. With the various emulators on the Play Store you will also be able to play your classic videos games using a bluetooth controller.
